Carbon Fiber Hood Helpp
So I got this Cf hood for my Da that I need help with. By the looks of it the weave has a crack int it. So instead of me buying a hood i was wondering if anyone knows how to lay the carbon fiber layers. Im good with fiberglass but i just wanna know what I need and all. Or does anyone know where I could send the hood to get redone at too?
there really is no way you can fix it and make it look decent if the weave under is cracked too. You can sand it down and put another single layer of carbon over it then clear coat but that really is your only option
I would have to see a picture, but I think you might be able to fix stress cracks. It depends on what's going on. If you have a pic, I could probably tell you.
If it's a stress crack, you might be able to sand all of the crack out and then pour a clear casting resin into the sanded area, let harden, then sand it smooth, then wetsand the whole hood and have it re-cleared.

ive seen that done before. just gotta be carfull not to sand to much material away when smoothing it and you have to have a good hood cause ther needs to be plenty of get coat ther so you dont burn through the existing get coat. Make sure to brush up on ur sanding skills before doing it.
PS wat kinda hood is it. Brand and style.
