Squaky shock all of a sudden, what's wrong?
Hi,
It's a 98 Coupe, my friend's car, it drove fine (it's her daily) but just today it all of a sudden started being VERY squeaky in the drivers side front suspension area. It squeaks a lot as you drive, and even if I just push down on the fender it squeaks.
I looked at it quickly, and I noticed that the spring looks much more compressed on the squeaky side than on the normal one. But it doesn't sit lower to the ground or anything on that side.
Here are the pics:
Drivers side spring (the "bad" one):

Drivers side wheel

For comparison, passenger side spring:

And lastly passenger side wheel:

So....
1) Does anyone know what the problem is or have any ideas? To be honest I have absolutely no idea if the springs were always like this, compressed differently or not. But either way any help would be great as I have no idea right now. Much easier to figure out the problem with some guidance
2) Is it okay to drive for a while? I will look at it on the weekend is it okay until then?
THANK YOU!

The squeking noise is probably a blown strut. Look to see if there is fluid around the strut. If so that is probably it. And for the spring looking more compressed could be from the strut is blown causine all the weight of the car to fully rest on the spring. Causing the more compressed look. Just a guess. Also maybe a broken spring. Cant tell in pics.
The driver side spring looks a little more compressed then your passanger side. If you rock the car does it still squeak? And when it squeaks is it loud and all the time or quiet and only when you hit bumps?
