Yes, that is what my car is doing at like 20% throttle. This happened all of a sudden and I cannot pin point what it is. I was driving low on gas, and when I tried going, I thought that was my problem, so I went to fill up. Problem still occured so I was thinking I messed up my fuel pump. I changed my fuel pump and still doing the same thing.

The car hesitates badly after xx% throttle, and I cannot tell waht it is. I changed the plugs, I am not throwing a CEL, and some say distributor could be bad. What do you all say? I need help!

PS: Car was running fine and is not the tune.
Oh and it is a b16a3 with CTR pistons/GSR cams.

 

not sure but maybe the fuel filter. happened to my friends LS. when floor the stalls a bit the goes. so he decide to change the fuel filter and its fine now. some **** about contaminated fuel or something. he also use that fuel cleaner stuff from autozone.

 

If there isn't a CEL being thrown, its more than likely not a sensor, could be plugs/wires/cap/rotor, but the Honda distributors are quality, and they last, so maybe there is just some build up, or oil in the distributor, but who knows, considering the problem, i can see it being the culprit, is it misfiring??. Fuel filter may be clogged, or if you have the Cat still installed, it may be plugged up. Probably not the problem but maybe the air filter, would have to be CAKED with crap...

 

I replaced the Fuel Filter as well, and it is still happening. I changed the plugs, but haven't changed wires/cap/rotor. I do not have a cat installed, and the air filter isn't dirty. I shall try and replace the cap and rotor since it's cheaper then wires and see if it helps or solves the problem. I am not throwing a CEL so are you saying it's not a dizzy problem?

Honda distributors are quality pieces when not very old....but we're talking a 10+ year old dizzy....the coil gets hot spots, the ICM takes a crap, bearing dust/moisture screws it up, etc.

The problem is definitely related to load.

Pinch of the fuel return line to raise pressure and see if that helps. If so, it's a fuel issue. If not, then most likely in the dist.

 

Alright, I'll try and do the "pinch of the fuel return" and see if it does anything. I really miss driving the car.

 

i had this problem once before but not a on a honda i ran the car to E then when i re fueled it would barely move when i got it fixed it was the fuel pump supposibly after enough fill ups and never running it to E it collects water ontop of the gas and when i ran it down the fuel pump sucked up water and it was in the lines and even after i re fueled it was still trying to run on a good bit of water so i had to get the whole fuel syslem flushed new fuel filter and all that good stuff then it was fine

 

I put new fuel filter and new pump in it, still acting up.

could be a tps problem. turn the car on and hold it steady at 3k. if it's bad it should wander up and down, then check for CELs. should throw a code 7 if it's bad.

 

I did this, and it surged up and down. But it is NOT throwing a code.

 

Try ISO heet it'll get any water out. Your problem sounds like water in the lines. The fuel will pass the water but it will lag the fuel from injecting correctly when the throttle opens.

 

How do i try this? Because I am confused on what you are saying.

 

It's a fuel additive sorry. It evaporates any water in the fuel system. You can get at any auto store or a walmart or something like that.

 

So it's sort of like Fuel Injector cleaner I guess? Buy it and fill it through gas tank? What is it called again?

Just because the car doesn't have CEL light, doesn't mean that some electrical component isn't failing. It may not necessarily be dead, just not working right. Surging problems, i know i said earlier that it most likely wasn't a sensor, BUT, it could be TPS, coolant temp sensor, O2 Sensor. Also, its possible the ignition coil or igniter are waring out in the distributor, but the car usually starts hard if thats the case. I'm not sure what regular measurements are, but you can check the sensors with a multimeter to see what is malfunctioning. I don' think its the computer, because i would think it would most definitely throw a check light. On that, maybe there is a wire running to one of the various sensors that is chaffing or exposed.

 

I agree , i had this exact same problem, i replaced dizzy,wires,plug,cap,pump, it was my O2 sensor causing all the problems.

 

i know this sounds basic, but check the air filter, if its completely clogged it could cause this...just throwing ideas out here cause it looks like we are running low on help for this oen

 

Well the car does not start hard. It starts perfect actually. I checked the cap, and there is no residue or corrosion in it. o2 sensor is disabled on my car/ecu. I checked if TPS if it could be bad, it is not that. Here is a video of what it is doing:
