I want advice on how to deal with the ins co

My rex got creamed this wknd.
I was parked in front of friend's house. The other car was driven by a 16yr old that had trouble steering her cellphone. Only had a lic for a couple weeks.
she didnt even hit the brakes!!!

moved my car about 15ft even though it was in gear had the pbrake on and was up hill.

this wheel has body contact on the inside so it wont roll w/o destroying the tire

is there any hope?

 

well, im pretty sure its totaled. to fix all of the damage it would cost a heck of alot of money. maybe try to buy your car back from the insurance company?

 

its a write off, get your check and buy another one.

 

yeah fixing it is not likely, I am not holding my breath on that ....

I want to be sure I get all I can from them

I put work into the car, of course

I want advice on how to approach the ins co. Do I just call a lawyer now?
I was not in the car so I cant sue for whiplash

They have an appraiser coming to look soon

 

did you file a police report? That always helps.

You're going to get the amount for your totalled car from her insurance company, unless you can convince them to give you more for recent *major* repairs. They won't cover mods.

I wouldn't even begin to attempt to fix the unibody damage, the car's done man. RIP.

 

You then have the option to buy the car back from the insurance company. It is repairable, but at the very least you need a frame straightener. I'd buy it back, part it out, and pray you get enough to buy a new rex.

sux cuz we have been through alot, it was my 1st swap ever, 1st rex
more than 33 states have passed beneath the wheels

so are there any TN folks around to advise specifics?

she hit you, so her insurance should be paying to fix your car regardless of the cost no?

holy crap that sucks. i would be in total chaos if someone hit my hatch parked outside in the front of my place!!! i hope you get to buy it back for hella cheap and steal all the "good" parts off of it.

 

Make sure you stated that your a/c worked. My my bro got in an accident the insurance company was quick to call it totaled. Then we had to show reciepts of what was done to get more money out of it. For the brand new b16 tranny (Hydro) from honda which cost $2000 something. They gave us $50 more. But when we said the a/c was there and worked whoa, got like $250 more. This was for a 93 civic hatch si. But yeah, it's totaled. Dont even try to fix it.

 

Not really, if the cost of the repairs are more than the value of the car they will "total" it out meaning they will give you what the vehicle is worth not repair it then, Im not sure what they use to figure that out though cause when my 85 CRX got totaled out they gave me and option of like $2200 or $1800 if I kept my car "buy it back" Well I paid $1700 for it and the car was still very driveable so I kept the car and took the $1800. Although this was also about 13 years ago :p

they had a picnic on the hood of her rav4 while we waited for the officer to show.

I sat in the house and worked on my friends computer so I would not be worse

Officer said I had the 6240th report filed so far this year (that was only half way through day 3 of the year!!!)

Next door neighbor saw the whole thing from his front yard, said she was looking at the floor the whole time.

Damage isnt bad...you can rub most of that out.


Looks like a total, but I'd inquire about buying it back and selling usable parts, or make it a fun project. Sorry about your incident, at least you where not in it at the time.
