good idea. welding sand cast iron = prosity/ bad welds.

its hard but it is possible. if you do want to weld it. SMAW with a nickel rod with the manifold preheated on a grill. bevel edges go 2 inches past the crack both sides.

 

Thanks for the welding info. Think I just might purchase a new header or find a used one for now. that one is all rusty and old

 

Mine did the same thing, I found a used replacement that was taken off a band new car back in 2000 for $30.

Personally I would just buy a header.

 

Yup, my header with about 120k miles cracked and I found a stock used header here for cheap money.
