Depends on the weight of the rear of the car, but you should definitely be looking for 150lbs or less.

FWIW 2300lb car I ran a 140lb and it felt pretty good. Now I'll be on ~100 lb spring in a ~2100 lb car

With wheelie bars, stiff in the front and soft in the back works best.

75-80# is where you need to be.

Shock/Strut Valving is where all this combo is completed.

Does not make a damn what spring rate so and so says if you do not have the valving to make the suspension work like it should.

Have you guys found a 6" and 7" spring in >100 lbs? I talked to everyone I could find at PRI and they laughed at me lol And I can't find anything from anyone else either.

i run 250lb springs in the rear. If I have a bad pass and I'm puting down the track I just blip the throttle and my bars plant them selves with ease.

Meanwhile, "Johnny 80# springs in the rear" is pulling semi lengths on you. I am just saying it could be better........but it is your car and your decision.

Rota, Make your own 75-80# springs............if you chop the correct 12 inch spring and do some small reshaping you end up with a pair of springs, have a curcle track guy put them on a spring tester to make sure they are the same rate. NOW..........all you have to do is figure out what 12 inch spring rate to chop in half.......I will let you guys figure that out.

You want a soft spring so it compresses the rear wheel up in the quarter panel, BUT......... then the rebound valving needs to be pretty aggresive, so it will keep the car down on the bar, it will also reset on the gear changes to help plant the front tires on the shift, then it will slowly release allowing the wheel to lower out of the quarter, picking the rear up a bit. the bars will still be dragging regardless, there is a big difference between bars dragging, and bars actually doing something while they are dragging.

If you have soft springs but do not have shock valving correct, it is a big wast of time and tires.

Here is where you can get the low rate springs.

http://www.bluecoilspring.com

They mostly deal with Circle Track guys. This is one place we found us a set.

I used to have short 80lb springs but I'm not sure where they came from. I'll have to go find an invoice. I think place John said above or something similar.

As we've come to expect from you, another great idea. We have a circle track buddy a few miles away, that has done work for us before.

The car has the right rear shocks so we can dial in what will work when the time comes.

I'll keep looking, but they aren't short enough for how low the car is. And I can't cut more threads on the strange shock or I would.

Jeromie, glad to see people making their own stuff. I can use spring checkers at work, so I'll start messing with stuff

ok not sure ill get my new rear suspension in time for the april 5 event.

what's the bad side of running my current 800lbs in the rear with wheelie bars.

from having 5psi to 10psi my car raises 1" so if i set my bar at 1/2" off the ground in the back it will keep the front time from trying to grow to extra 1/2" and thus helping with traction no? even with stiff springs.

pics of car and it weighs 2100lbs with me and intercooler full.
