I started off running 1.57.xx's cool.....didn't know how i'd drop 5 seconds a lap to catch jack if i wanted to win....qualifing, i qualified 5th...not sure what my time was i think 1.56xx don't remember....anyway....for the race i was on the 3rd row inside... jack was pole, starns was behind him....as we grid starns points his car towards the middle of the the track ever so slightly....seeing this i saw my opportunity...i decided i was going to take the inside and drag race to the corner and see what happens!!! we sit on grid for what seems like an hour due to someone spilling oil....they send out the pace car and we get another warm up lap... good....but i wasn't sure if starns was going to do the same thing at grid....we warm the stuff up and starns points towards the middle of the track....ohhh great....here is my opportunity.....(little background) carl and i had discussed using the grass on the start....he said it was perfectly OHHHKAY....so my strategy would be go track left as much asap and and put 2 off and take the inside because starns would try and proctect the middle of the track (what i would do if i was there in his place plus how he set up his car on grid.) so finally the orange flag comes up.....start the count down in my head

gas......
i timed it perfect....i pull out good...some tire spin but not much i'm on his *** second gear.....i'm full track left.....he is moving over to the middle i put drivers front off then i'm side by side......third gear both tires off i'm in the grass full drivers side.....it's time to work my way back on track.....starns is full track right....so i have room.....i'm on coreys ****....holy cow i'm in third.....i have a chance at jack.....time for turn in at one....i turn in starns is i don't know where he is.....i feel a jar a hard jar....i think holy cow i just got hit (TURNS OUT I"M A JACK *** AND WAS NOT I REPEAT NOT HIT, i believe i might have just hit the rev limiter but i'm not sure...maybe i was still in the grass and hit a hole that jared the kaa) so i toss that out of my mind i don't have time to think i'm going into turn one way hot on coreys butt.....hit the brakes turn in....look to my right no one is there.... so i track out right but not enough so i don't leave an opening if i'm not caringing enought speed so someone can pass.....turn 3 good....turn 4 corey drifts more than i see him drift so i lift way too much and well we all know what happens when you lift......around i go.....only go 270 degree.... i wait for all cars to pass as i was just once too agressive....i pull out dead last......third to last in 4 corners....you all have no idea how pissed i am....i needed to be there to put pressure on jack so he couldn't wrap up the Season...so now i'm running 17th.....last place....i'm **** like a mo fo!!!! well i bust a nut and finish 7th overall and 2nd in my class.....good race....i learned 2 things.....drag race the start and dive in......and don't don't don't ever try to catch the leader on the first lap!!!! overall great race.....leader was at the last turn as i was past the kink on the final lap.....i think i would have given him a run if not for the spin....

sunday.....i qualified 3rd with a low 1.55.xx, i picked up some time...durning practice i tried some now foot work technics....all i have to say is left foot braking kicks ***....
race- start is good....alex was next to me....i pulled a car on him and pull to middle track to proctect my position....i check my mirrors and i can't even see his hood....all i saw was his windshield....he was trying to get a run on me so i was protecting/block all through faith love hope.....i pulled alittle on him down the back straight but he regained on turn 8 i believe.....pulled little between 8 and the kink and had a few cars on him through the kinks but he late braked and pulled the inside on me going into the autox....i thought he over cooked it so i was going to go outside and dive inside on him.....i think it would have been a good move but remember what i had learned the day before....so i graciously but unwillingly gave up position and said to myself....i'll get him sooner or later....well next lap he had caught corey....and through kink he went 2 off and the car rotated and he was unable to save it.....foot floored i late braked into the autox picked up some ground on jack and corey...i was loosing about .5 to .75 seconds per lap....they were moving.....so i just stay content and drive.....no one in my mirrors...just drive....hope jack screws up....bout half way through i really start gaining on them.....finally i pass corey (HE LIFTED FOR ME) he later told me his power died off and didn't want to hold me up....so i see jack in my sights....i'm sure he had been on cruise control and not pushing it....but i had not been pushing it either because i was content 4-5 seconds behind him waiting for a mistake on his part....well when corey let me by....i knew the throttle had to go down.....i hammered down....less than a 1/4 tank of gas.....ohhh i hope it makes it.....well i hammer down....and start picking up time....bout 3/4 to a second a lap....with 4 or 5 laps to go.....all i need was jack to mess up.....well at the finish i'm a second or 2 behind jack....he lifted down the front straight to play with my mind!! well my fastest lap was 1.54.xx....LOW 54... my overall speed though was .01 faster than jack......hmmmmm.....i was dissappointed that i didn't have the power to over take him but it was a good race....GREAT JOB JACK!!!! i hope i had you nervous....

well that's all i want to share for now.....yes MY CAR WAS DRIVEN HOME AND TO WORK TODAY!!! was yours??

Congrats Chad. You smoked my *** on the start. For some reason, I didn't think who was behind me...just worried about getting in front of Brinson since his car is hellafast.... Guess I'll need to go to the drag strip for some practice after the car is fixed.

 

yup.. but when my novice student did it on the first session of the weekend it gave me a little shock.

once you see the video of the Sat start you will love it.

Chad, awesome job!! My power didn't die, but my front tires had gone to **** at about lap 7, and my car started vibrating really bad.. I knew I would hold you up, so why do it.. I wanted to watch you have your fun that you have been hoping for..

p.s. Jack doesn't mess up, at all, he's ice...

btw h2 is shapping up to be quite a battle, as Robert Williams really picked up the pace this weekend and was really in the thick of things on sunday, and if the Cruiper racing machine did not have its problem... I think it is cool to be annoucer and not driving for that... maybe..
