Need help identifying engine part on F22 engine
I was working on my engine rebuild, and when I was working on the bottom end, taking off the oil pump and pic-up screen etc. I noticed this small part on the floor. It had engine oil on it, so I assume it must be an oil restrictor of some sort or something (the small holes all intersect, and the threads in the second picture is part of the small through-hole at the very top). The piece is only about 1/2" by 1/2". Does anyone know exactly what it is, and more importantly where it goes? Thanks in advance for the help!
The engine is an F22A1.

Hon2984- just curious what brand of rods and pistons did you go with? I know rods are hard to find (only crower ect. ) for this engine unless you get rods for the H22 and get custom pistons. I found h-beam rods for this engine at importperformanceparts made by Toga for about $300, waaay less than crower for 700. Anyone know anything about Toga rods? These are the only rods Ive found that are a direct fit for the accord/prelude F22's, but I never hear anything about them.
Heres my rebuild so far! -So obviously I have some time to look for parts. I just got the head and block back from cleaning, blasting, and machining (block not honed yet).

Not to hijack the thread, but since the picture above kind of shows what I'm interested in:
Can someone confirm the location of the Block Coolant Drain plug? I thought it was 6:00 with respect to the Oil Filter, but is it in actuality at 9:30 ?

Yes that is it @ the 9:30-10ish with the hex head on it. There is no coolant below the balance shft/oil filer.

Nice clean looling head and block AccordInTheMaking. What are your plans for your Accord?

Anyway my plans are for a low-compression rebuild, with plans for turbo in the spring after I get all this engine stuff taken care of. I've pretty much set my mine on the Arias forged pistons 8.8:1 comp. Then I'm gonna match them with either the Toga rods, or the Crower rods. Obviously the Crowers would be the better choice, so I'll make that decision later. So thats the upgrades for the engine internals, and of course all new seals, gaskets, water pump, oil pump, belts ect. It is my daily driver.. and only car.. lol, so the faster I get it done the better- but wisconsin winters are not fun for driving unless you like snow donuts, but I'll just get it done ASAP anyway.
The cylinder head is going to be a stock rebuild as the F22A1 is perfect for turbocharging, so im just paying close attention to the measuring and machine work.
For the trans, ive already taken it all apart for reasons of boredom mostly lol, but also to check it out and it looks and measures out practicly brand new. So im just going to install a Fidanza flywheel, and a ceramic clutch.
I have all of my car pics throughout the years on my myspace page so I would reccomend going there if you want to see more, but here are some current pics of the accord so far (still have more body work and paint to go- im doing it all myself so it takes time). go to http://www.myspace.com/accord_in_the_making
I took the first picture before I realized the paint was chipping off the lip. I have since fixed that problem. My paint was perfect but the stuff they coated the fiberglass with just flakes off! So anyway if looks much better now.
Up front is the new body kit's bumper, black projector headlights and 10K HID's for the lowbeams.
This is my first time painting with a paint gun, so i got a bit of orange peeling because my small air compressor couldnt keep up with the gun. Fix- hand wet sand EVERYthing... ughh.. but anyway on the second pic you can see the difference - hood wetsanded, pass. fender not wetsanded.

Ive got stock rods for now. I would go with the crower rods my self. I have a friend that has them in his 300whp F23 Turbo.
Yeah they seem like pretty good rods. Im going to be getting a Treadstone turbo kit, as they look far superior to the no-name ebay kits, but there about $1800. So I was thinking the Toga rods to save some money since they look very similar to Eagle H-beams, but with my new job I should have enough money to spare to get some quality parts such as the crowers.

Just wondering- Has anyone used the Toga brand connecting rods, or known anyone that has? I know there are always discussions involving the F22 engines of people having a hard time looking for aftermarket rods, other than Crowers that cost $700. The Toga's only cost around 300 and are a direct fit into the accord/prelude F22, but you never hear anything about them. Anyone have any imformation on these rods?

Nice colour, I like that blue. Not that crazy about the aggressor bumper or turbo builds myself. Good luck with it though. Cheers
As for rods I'm flipping a coin between the Crower Maxi Lite and Carrillo SA Rods. IMO $300 seems a bit low for rods. I haven't personally read any F22 builds using the Toga rods.
They seem to be pretty close spec wise, but it's the quality for $300 that I would be worried about. Not to mention they are using the basic entry level ARP rod bolts. Personally I don't think I would use these rods. There is a lot riding on the quality of your rods when it comes to a build.
