Default 8.5.1 compression running stock, is it ok?

Im rebuilding my d16y8. got all the parts i need expect the 4bar map sensor / fuel injectors and the clips. I was wondering if i put it all back together if i can drive it with my 8.5.1 compression with oem ngk spark plugs and everything else STOCK no turbo, so i can drive it back and forth to work tell i get the injectors. it will be on the stock ecu

itll be perfectly fine. it wont be as fast and you might lose alittle MPG but it wont hurt the motor

Are you rebuilding this motor for turbo? If so, the best way to break the motor in is to run it hard on a good tune on the dyno.

Thats one theory. I broke my motor in slowly and n/a and it has been very much boosted for 17k miles now without any issues. Either way it should be fine. Mine was driven quite a while this way.

ok cool. yeah i dont plan to be racing it like this i just wanna make sure it wont get to hot and mess up my brand new pistons.
Im i gonna get a check engine light or is it gonna miss or back fire. i was told there will be extra fuel not being burned and going straight out the exhaust. just curious what to expect since this is my first rebuild.
