Default my little welding table for my tig. what do you think?

just made a little welding table for my tig. got a killer deal and a local metal/welding supply store. place is HUGE! so for 28 bucks i made this. i used my old Lincoln weld pack flux core on it lmao. i still have no 230volt to use my tig at home. so i was left no choice but to use it. but the welds still turned out fine imo. i can jump up and down on it so its stout. let me know what you
think

1'x2' table top is way too small, 2 tubes across the two legs would have been sufficient instead of making 6 gussets and warping the top.

if thats all your garage space for welding chuck that desk and build something bigger with a shelf on the side for your tig ... looks like you can fit decent 2-1/2' x 4' table there.

i don't think the top is warped too bad, it is probably because that part of the table is at the edge of the lense in the pic.

i think its way too small personally. if you only spent 28$ then cut and reuse what you can and like rotay said do at least a 2 1/2 x 4 table. at least you had fun making it right!

note to self, when building something for my personal use and likes i will not be posting pics on this site. for the table being warped, it is not at all. as for the table size. its PERFECT for what im using it for (little projects at home). im making another one next week that will be 5'X2 1/2' the shop im working at does not want a big a$$ welding table there so im most likely taking this one there and making a big one for home. but sense i dont have a 230volt to plug my tig in... i see no point.

thanks for the input i guess

after i used a 8'x4' steel table for the last 2 yrs, i couldn't go back to anything smaller. it is so nice to be able to have the room.

but if this is good enough for you then it works.

btw, a little overkill on the legs for not even connecting them together don't you think.

I am going to have to agree that it is too small and could have been executed a bit better. The top is more than likely warped a little unless it was clamped down very well with a good heat sink below it. However, if it works for you and you like it then that is all that matters. for the effort and posting pics.

Now come one don't be like that. You posted pics and asked for opinions and that is what you got. Basing all of your posting of pics on this one thread is just wrong. You should remember that a lot of the posters in here are professional welders by trade and they would not find your table useful just because of size. Take what people post with a grain of salt.

I would of made it a tad different (larger, design, etc), but if that works for you, then why not?

Don't worry about the criticism, it only leave you more room for improvement. Keep on posting pics of your work. Share with us, Well give you opinions on what you should improve on. If you don't like whats been said, then let it be, don't take it seriously. We all start somewhere.... -

The gussets are overkill but a added cross peice from both leg will be best and/or cross peice under the table top and tack it... to prevent the top from warping later down the road...

Looks good though.

What are you 10 years old, quit being a baby. you built a tiny *** welding table and then over built the hell out of that legs. and you expect people to lie to you and say you welds are great and it looks good.

get real and quit whining, damn dude

It seems that all of your posts are you bitching about people's opinions about you, after you had asked for there opinion? weird.

don't post up if you don't want to hear the truth.

i like it, it looks like its just a small piece for at home stuff?

i say connect the 2 legs to keep the table level, one day they might warp out wards etc.
looks like its warped already from probably the minimal use from it, which isn't a big deal.
bolt a harbr freight vise to it.

What you need is something lightweight that folds up so you can put it up against the wall. Even a 16 gauge top is fine, you are just welding small stuff, no need to go heavy duty. Maybe you can even find a office table with fold up legs that you could remove the wood top.

You don't need hot parts falling off the edge on your legs and its a lot easier to rest your arms on the table too

Maybe you could attach one end of the table to the back of your tool box when your done you just fold it up and roll it back
hmm just ideas lol

Looks fine to me, put a brace between the legs or maybe 2 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom, only needs to be 1" box or something.

If you want something bigger put a bigger sheet ontop and tack around the edge, extend the legs a little and your away.

3/4" x 5 ft or so x 3.5 ft top
2.5" round legs
1" braces

overkill for my basement? probably...but the top was only $50, the rest of the metal was about 60... :D
