Default sway bar?'s

i am looking into getting front and rear sway's for my 90 dx hatch and have mainly been looking into the suspension techniques front and rear kit that they have. my main question is is the front sway too much? would it be better to get the suspension techniques rear and some other front?

my car is stock as far as the motor goes, but am planning on a swap in the near future

yes, the front is too much. it will reduce overall handling.

just get the rear.

Keep your stock front. Or better yet, find a HF front
Then get a ST rear.

theres just not a need to get a bigger front swaybar. it kills the independent suspension ability and reduces front end grip.

a rear swaybar actually reduces rear grip, but overall better handling, more balanced.

I'm using tanabe front and rear, as soon as asr comes out with their rear sway bar frame brace set. I'm getting that one.

hf front bar(which is smaller and will help balance)

Start with stock si rear bar or integra.

Your car will be more oversteer happy and will be better balanced. If you learn to control it and want more rotation in the rear then upgrade. But learn to drive first.

So the front bar smaller to allow more articulation in turns? Is this to keep a larger contact path? What about the larger swaybar up front to help keep the car flatter to reduce body roll? The only reason I ask is because I own a Si.

Big rear bar, good.
Really BIG rear bar, better.
HUGE rear bar, best.

Stock front bar, bad.
HF front bar, better.
No front bar, BEST.

That hasn't answered my question though. When I had my EG Si, and my CX, the Si was flatter around turns, it weighed a lot more, but also had the front sway bar.

Honda wouldn't want their econo cars to be tail happy. I would say that they put a larger front sway on the models that came with a rear sway to keep the understeer tendencies.

so with a suspension techniques rear sway bar that is 22mm you would still want to reduce the front sway bar to the hf?

i have both the front and rear ST bars, some of "what is best" will depend on your driving style, I've done numerous track days and have managed to spin the car with both bars really easy, I'm going to remove the front just to TRY only having the rear bar, it kinda makes me nervous though...on regular roads i noticed the car felt really stable at high speed freeway cornering...and ramps...it made me feel a bit more attached to the road...be careful of making your front wheel drive car tail happy...IMO...

I have a 90' dx hatch with the stock front sway bar and the suspension techniques rear sway bar and it is plenty tight around corners, and thats with kyb gr2's and stock springs.

Like Tyson has said numerous times in this thread: there is no need to "upgrade" the front sway bar. Just get the rear and try that out

it was said that competitive setups for autocrossers remove the front bar to illustrate the fact that you dont really want to go bigger in the front for better performance.

but it doesnt mean you HAVE to use that setup. or that its even recommended.

i am recommending on my own experience, to just buy the rear swaybar and try that out first. and that the 22mm front swaybar is too big unless you dont know the difference between good handling and a bounded up suspension that "feels like rails" on highway off ramps, which quite frankly isnt a good thing, imsho. if you want to reduce some sway in the front afterwards, you can get a 19mm EF sedan front swaybar. but 22mm is just overkill.
