Squeeling sound from belt? Help!
I have a problem. Today my friend and me changed belts and belt tensioner and water pump on my 1990 Civic D16. After we started the car there was some squeeling sound coming somewhere from the belts or tensioner, or the cam gear. Could that be 'cause we overtighten the belt or we didn't tighten it enough? Has any of you experienced something like this?
WELL , IMHO its either ***** cold out? or its wearing down the letters and writing on the belt. Everytime i change my belts they squeak for 100 miles or so then gtg..
Unless of course its just loose..

well is it your timing belt or your alternator belt?? take off your alternator belt first and see if the noise is still there, the tensioner usually does its job, but if its too tight it will be noisy, not squeeling though....
I'm pretty sure that it's not the alternator belt....we will take it apart on Monday, and try to put it on again and see what happens, but few people said to me that it is a usual thing, that noise, when belt is new.

Theres something seriously wrong if your timing belt is squeeling.
i have this same problem! sohc zc squeels at idle from time to time, i have to rev at 2000rpm for it to go away...then starts again at idle or downshifting.
i had the same problem recently with my alternator belt a autozone 1 brand new and tight as i could get it but still lose and stretchy so i put the old 1 back on and hasnt squeeked since
thats weird, i just changed my water pump and timing belt the other day, and mine squeals a little also. It only does it between 2000 and 3000 rpms though. I was thinking its my tensioner but i will let it go for a while to see if it stops, as someone said its the letters and numbers wearing off...
