Default New Suspension

I have an 88 Crx dx with some no-name crappy springs and struts. They ride horribly and I have been looking around for some new springs and struts. I think I am going with Tein S-Tech springs and KYB GR-2 struts. The reason I am probably going with this setup is that I want a close to stock ride with a slightly lowered stance. I wanted to get some opinions from anyone who might have this setup or something similar.

i had gr-2's and they were terrible! The springs your suggesting are quite good. But for shocks close to stock i recommend tokico blues.

my combo suggestions:
Low budget: tokico blues with H&R springs
higher budget: Koni yellows and eibach springs

I thought eibach springs weren't too pricey, but maybe compared to others...

bilstein is a good shock absorber as well, offers a firm stable ride but not jarring. Def. not 1979 cadillac smooth.

spend a bit more and get illuminas for under $400 /set. youll appreciate the difference of a better shock.

i wouldnt bother wasting my money on Gr-2 or blues or anything similar.

S techs are pretty soft. i really recommend eibach prokits over tein.

prokit/illumina combo is a great combo for the crx.

Eibach is the way to go. Greatest spring manufacturer on earth.

I used to run tokico illuminas with skunk2 springs. wasnt a bad set up for me. running full tein flex coilover now though.

whats your budget for suspension? the reason most gr-2s and blues blow is because there pretty much a stock replacement. when dropped to low or used with stiff or cheap springs they will blow, not right away but within a year.

if you want ride quality choose a spring with a slight drop 1-1.5" as for strut, koni's would be my recomendation or tokico illuminas, but again whats your budget.

if your tight on budget id recomend a used set of springs and spend the money you saved on new quality struts. hunt around i got a set of tien flex's for my eclipse off of ebay for 30.00, LOL

but in refrence to what you would like a buddy had suspension technique springs and gr-2s in his b17 ef, no problems with them.

Thanks for all of the advice. As for my budget, I'm looking at about $400-450 total. I read several reviews for the eibach sportlines and I've heard that they are not good but I thought the prokits were the "race" springs and I am not looking for a race spring. I just want something the will ride nice while lowering it slightly. Also any suggestions on other things to get to ensure a smooth install?

i have no experience with eibachs on hondas but a lot of f bodies locally use them and love the comfort but i didnt like them because it thought they were too soft and sloppy and went with a stiffer spring like suspension techniques, for my crx im using ground controls and illuminas but with the snow it has been this year i have not been able to test them out. but from the minimal driving i have done i have noticed a much stiffer ride, and the illuminas are on full soft.

hunt around on your local craigslist and ebay, lots of deals to be had for a good set of springs.

prokits are made exactly for a slightly lowered ride that still rides nice.

sportlines are for dumping the car. not recommended.
