Default b18 swap and sluggish off the line

i bought a motor from a guy that owns a shop in san diego area. i got it complete installed and running with no check engine lights. i get on the throttle and its sluggish untill the rpms start to rev up. i dont have a tach so i couldnt tell you how high the rpm have to be to gain power. i was thinking dirty fuel injectors, maybe dirty air filter. any thoughts?

When's the last time the car had a tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, fuel system service, etc. etc.)?

check the map sensor and the tps. make sure your tps is calibrated. Try trading a known good throttle body with someone else with both sensors and see if thats your problem. Switch the whole throttle body.=]

plugs brand new may need to be checked im sure we were running rich when i drove it for the first time down the street, wires not sure worked perfect when removed from my last car with b18, complete dizzy is brand new, fuel filter dont know, rest of the system dont know i bought the car about 5months ago.

i like the idea with the throttle body dont know anyone with the same setup. ill have to search around. i think i know what part of the problem is the left caliper is messed up so its dragging like the brakes are on. ill have a new one hopefully in the morning

Sometimes people switch the MAP sensor and TPS plugs which obviously would cause some problems too. You shouldn't have to worry about calibrating the TPS unless it's actually been messed with once. It's a set and forget kind of thing.

If the car hasn't had the above mentioned items changed recently. Old/bad wires can cause misfires and a clogged fuel filter puts a large strain on the fuel pump, not to mention worse gas mileage. If the car was running rich it's possible that you've fouled out the plugs too, which may be a good idea to change just in case, not to mention it's like 8 bucks for a new set of plugs, don't be a cheapass.

Yes, you would. A lot of people swap those accidentally and don't understand what the issue is. If you've got no CEL then you're fine in that department.

A bit of maintainence can go a long way when it's never been done before.

Maybe you have a restrictive exhaust...? Which are you using?

I had a feeling you did that. That exhaust is restrictive. I bet you will have no problems off the line with a proper exhaust.

Is your hatch a cx? If so the exhaust was the problem I had when I did my b18b swap ran open header and it came alive till I could put new exhaust on.
