Default Mista Bone: need help replacing countershaft bearing...

i want to replace the snap-ring bearing on the countershaft, but i've got a couple problems. the biggest is, how do you hold the shaft to remove the nut, then how do you torque it back up to 80 ft/lbs? the second is, helms lists the torque as 80 -> 0 -> 80. does that mean to torque it to 80, release it back to 0, then take it back up again to 80?
