88 CRX build thread (56k warning)
well since a buddy on here has created some buzz with his eg build thread; https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/my-eg-build-thread-56k-warning-2456645/, ive decided to post one of my projects up on here as well.
the car is a 88 crx si, with 120k original kms on the odometer, we got the car for 200.00 three years ago. was previously owned by a lady that did not change the timing belt and of course at 120k it promptly let go. there was no damage to the valvetrain so the original plan was to replace the belt and sell the car, it had slight damage to the passenger fender and door at the time.
over the course of time i had some friends that wanted to buy the car so giving them the friend price i took deposits and well they never panned out, one of them actually went to the trouble of disasembling the car because he had pipe dreams and spray painted the car when he and some buddies were drunk, which you will see in the later pics.
currently i have been able to garner some sponsors for the car and aquired free body and paint work from a local shop.

the car after a buddy decided he was going to paint the car flat black.... he had removed the front clip and interior to strip the car down so it would be light wieght, well the front clip because he wanted to do the colour change but you get the idea..

interior was left in shambles, it has since been replaced back to its former glory. this pic was taken half way of putting it all back together..

its got a b18a out of a 92 teg, it was installed all half assed by my brother in law who has since been reprimanded and stripped of his civic for stupidity... we have also corrected the install/wiring and runs like a champ.

suspension consists of tokico illumina's, ground control sleeves, DA front/rear brake swap, brembo x drilled/slotted rotors, stainless steel brake lines, DOT5 brake fluid, energy suspension bushings throughout, megan racing rear lower tie bar, generic front strut bar, obx rear camber kit, and ingalls front camber kit. we originally used the aim industries front upper adjustable control arm, but it sat on the frame rail even with notching and the fender gap being just over two fingers with 15" wheels, so we pulled them off and used a stock upper control arm with an ingalls camber kit and now it only hits the frame rail on big bumps, ive come to the conclusion that the DA knuckles are taller and that may be causing an issue...maybe someone has an opinion on this issue....
the fenders were replaced because we needed the passenger fender and found a cheap set with the side markers already installed.

the car is now at body and paint at crush collision, its too bad we were not able to snap pics of the body work that went into the car, but all the rust was removed and new metal was welded in.
the primer just went on yesterday, and hope to see some paint samples today if i have time, hopefully it will be completed and back by friday/monday.

the plan is to sell the b18 out of it as a running swap, we have a b18b and a b16a sitting aroud collecting dust that will also go in to sell as running swaps.
i have a d16a6 with 130k kms for which i have a jrsc which i will throw on and use for autocrossing/road racing while i build up a d16 turbo with the vitara pistons and eagle rods i have kicking around, that will be the final engine choice for this vehicle, thanks for taking the time to look guys! and good luck with all your builds!!!

car is a little more together now, the hood is getting done today, should have it back in my hands tommorow or the next day, here are some teaser pics with the wheels on, sorry for the dusty pics forgot to clean the lens and it was kinda cramped in there so i couldnt get further pics....

the white was done on the center of the hood, one to be different, two in tradition of a former car we built, and three as a means of being able to disply our sponsors decals. heres a former car which is missed....
