Default Transmission Compatibility: 94 tranny on 96 engine

Hi there. I am replacing my car's auto tranny with a used from a 94 Accord to a 96 Accord. The only reason I'm asking this is because is there any issue with the OBD compatibility? Because the 94 has obd1 and the 96 has obd2.

Sorry, I just suck at these swap things.

you have to use your old wireing harness but all the sensors are there.

Also regarding different year transmission, I always keep hearing updates to the transmission internals. I have a 96 and replacing it with a 94, am I at a disadvantage or its ok?

if its got lower mileage and better conditioned i dont see any disadvantage.

although id check to make sure the plugs on the harness will work. obd1 has a separate TCU that controls the tranny. obd2 the TCU is incorporated into the ECU so that portion of the harness is definitely different but im not sure about the other end in the bay.

Hmmmmm.... sounds iffy on the compatibility, but we'll see, I'm having a shop do it for me.

Also, torque convertors. I'm not sure if the used one comes with it, but what should I do if it doesn't? How often do those things get bad?

Thats probably the reason they are changing the trans, your tq converter went out and destroyed your tranny.

K thanks for the reply. The shop is going to find a transmission this coming monday. In the mean time, I'm doing some research on my own.

My car is a 96 Honda Accord EX which has F22B1. The only other cars I know that share F22B1's are the 2.2 Acura CL and The 4cyl Odyssey. (If you know others, please share!)

So let's say I found a transmission from those cars, would it be possible to swap in that tranny into my Accord? Thanks!!!

(I just want to open up my options to used trannies)
