Default Building race spec ZC, info needed

hey guys, too many questions to answer so plz bare with me.

i just bought this 91 euro crx with d16a8 in it, this is my new project for a race car/autocross thing.

anyway i didn't touch it yet, i wanna build the engine first.

1) I'm thinking of boring the engine i just dnt know what is my limits, as i know all d series engines have the same 75m bore.

2) I'm talking a high CR engine here, i read most of the info i need, i just need to know which ARP bolts could fit the engine, i read its like a golf GTI 1.8 engine but i don't know the code of that, correct me if I'm mistaken.

3) i'm going to do port and polishing the head and I'm gonna need springs and retainers plz help me with options here.

4) i'm not going to do obd1 conversation so I'm staying obd0 for now, i don't know the code on the ecu i have i just cant read it well. could i chip it?!

5) do they have fender braces for the CRX?!

6) OBX LSD (for now) until i get some sponsors and get quaife, some people say good some people say bad, i read a lot of polls about them and still didn't get a good idea.

7) if i used suspension setup from an eg6 it wont affect my driving?!

note i don't live in USA, very hard to get most of the parts that I'm going to order most of them from USA, i live in middle east, where all the **** is happening in here

thanks in advance

1. If you are using the stock sleeves, limit the bore to the largest available piston size you can get from Honda. Most engines usually have a .5mm overbore piston.

2. http://www.tunertoys.com/ARP_Head_St...p/208-43xx.htm is a start. I think when I had to replace mine they were a VW kit but enough demand is out there now that a few companies know.

3. I used JG Engine Dynamics for my cam gears, springs and retainers. They used to be really inexpensive and one of two companies that made a true cam gear for the DOHC ZC (most used a modified B16 cam gear)

4. If you are staying OBD0, make sure you are using a PM6 ecu from a CRX/Civic Si. They are chippable if you decide to go that route.

5. Don't know
6. Unless you are keen on rebuilding your LSD right out of the box, save the money for the Quaife. IT"S WELL WORTH IT!! Otherwise, the OBX isn't bad, just not assembled very well.

7. Stick with the 88-91 suspension parts to be safe. There are more than enough options out there.

I wish you luck on the ZC build. I had a hard enough time with finding parts and I live in the states!

so u guys think i should swap a b16a?! i dont wanna turbocharge the zc for the track, the pproblem is its impossible here to fine obd0 b16a, all i can get is alot of obd1 b16a, and i know i have to get alot of things from hasport to make things right, i just thought for the same money and maybe less i can build a good racing engine from that d16a8

You can build the d16a8. However i would consult your local rules very closely first on what
you can and can't do and what class you will end up in if you do build it.
If you are just starting to autocross/race. Start with suspension and chassis tuning and SEAT time. This will help you to know which way you want to go either HP or torque.

ECUs ending in PM6-A09 is what you are looking for if you want to chip an OBD 0 D16A6/ZC ECU.
It's off 90-91 Civic SIs and CRX SIs

I don't think they will do much...except make you cuss when you can't re-align the door after installation.

I would go into the autox forum and ask that question/search...I am sure you would get better answers there from people who know. I do believe they are pretty useless.

The srt-4 neon arp head stud kit works on the dohc zc motor I have it on my turbo setup. As for parts to build an all motor setup for autox look at jgenginedynamics.com they offer all the aftermarket all motor parts for this awkward motor.

You should check the rules of the organization that you want to race/autocross with before building anything on the car. Good Luck...

x2 on the quaife... having a Saturn (modified a bit, for performance, not sound or looks) in high school the more fortunate guys online had boosted ones, and they swore by the quaife units. In stock/mildly modified form though, running 16x8 rims and matching size gumball tires I didn't need a LSD.
