Yeah, you're supposed to let fresh paint breath for at least a couple of weeks before you wax it, for base/clear anyway, i'm not really sure how long you should wait with enamel.

In the winter, I would just glaze every other week and just let that paint breathe and absorb good oils. Wax in the spring. Cold + wet = long cure.

what do you mean by orange peel?

i've done some parts with the autozone stuff and it's been like 5 years and I notice a slight change in the color in bright lights, but all in all looks ok with lots of clear.

Its just been my experince that orange peel is from prep work not the actual paint. this is why you would put down a good layer of primer and then lay down a guide coat on top, then procede to block it untill smooth. I could be wrong but like I said, a good prep can yield a massive diffrence in quality.

wat? Spray painting does not prevent orange peel. Most (>90%) of cars have some orange peel even in the factory paint job.

Orange peel comes from rushing the job and using the wrong tools/techniques.

You usually wax or they call buff after a fresh paint to give it the glossy look. If you don't it will still look good but some areas will show over-spray bumps.
