Help! What is the purpose of the secod O2 sensor??
Can someone explain to me... what does the O2 sensor just right after the cat suppose to do?? Thanx

dont quote me on this, but i believe its to make sure that the exaust has been "cleaned" so to say, by the cat, and they are interchangeable(front and rear sensors)
Well the ECU will expect certain values in the sensor after the cat to see if the cat is doing it´s job.
In other words if u take the cat the engine light will come on lol.
Only recent cars have that sensor after the cat, my 98 ITR doesn´t.

RedR, U.S. 98 ITRs have the second sensor in the cat, it is part of OBDII emissions. It's job is to police the cat and dial back the motor if the exhaust exceeds certain parameters. I've heard that the engine cannot take full advantage of intake and exhaust mods with the second sensor in place. A tuners trick is to remove it from the cat, wrap it in aluminum foil and ty-wrap it to the shifter stabilizer rod.
