Searched...Specific white smoke at cold start
Just finished turbo build. When i start her up, it will smoke for 15 minutes straight. Once it hits running temperatures or hot, it will stop smoking period. Just had new seals put in turbo also. It's non-tuned, weather is about 20ish degress right now. No overheating. This only happens for about the first 15-20 minutes at start up. Is it the weather or what?
It smells a hint of oil, but the thing is, i bought this motor fresh with absolutely nothing wrong with it. Please note, it only smokes the first 15-20 minutes, after that all is good. No smell of nothing. Strange..........please, more inputs.
hey it will go away when it gets worm. My car does it in the cold to. take about 10-15 mins for mine to go away. only happens when its cold.
i started her up again today, weathers about 40 degrees right now. I didnt put all the bolts to the downpipe on and i can see that it spits/drips a tad bit oil from there...wtfreak this motor was practically brand new...

u could possibly have bad rings...or they havent set (dont know how long u've drove ur car) which makes more sense since u only get it during start up (since it expands when hot) i'd put about 700 miles on the engine then try this again IMO if u feel everything is legit and brand new

i'd start with the seals on the turbo bro...it would take alot for oil from the block to run thru the chamber then thru the turbo to drip outta the exhaust...
When my fresh build started smoking, I was praying it was the seals on my gt30....but it wasn't and it ended up being my valve seals. I knew this because there was no oil coming out of the DP/exhaust. You have the exact opposite..
What is 'dripping' from between the downpipe and the turbo?
Whatever it is, its only happening when everything is still too cold for it to burn. It could just be moisture? I don't recall you saying its oil or anything.
How much 'smoke' comes out of your exhaust? Alot? Does it leave any residue in the end of the tailpipe? Enough that you could get a bit on your finger and smell it?
When hot things cool, moisture forms on the inside (reason why you change your oil in 3 month intervals if you dont reach the mileage), so it could be this moisture evaporating.
Again.. See if you can tell what exactly the smoke is, which usually indicates a coolant. What exactly is done to the engine? What turbo is it also, and is it water cooled, or just oil cooled.
Your not giving us enough info to work with.

i have the same problem with my car, oil is definitly getting through the seals in the turbo and into my intake stream as well as the exaust. could try new seals or an oil pressure regulator on the oil feed line for the turbo. im not sure what to set it at tho, looking into it myself. would anybody know?
For sure its oil dripping between the downpipe and turbo. I laid a fresh white t shirt down and can see it just collecting bits of oil every other 30 seconds or so. Alot of smoke comes out of the exhaust. Does smell like a hint of oil, but then i'd expect to see more of a blueish color in the smoke.

do you have an oil restrictor on the turbo feed line? If you have too much oil pressure then you might just keep blowing the seals in the turbo.
what oil are you using?
