Default Help With header

I got a stock ls in my 91 civic hatch. Only thing done to the motor is advanced timing thats it. I got a cheap megan racing header, with a big dent on the bottom to pipes, and i got a big crack on the top where it connects to the motor. I was wondering should i just weld the crack over again, or should i just get a new header. I was looking to buy a hytech replica, would it make a difference? I also think that the big dents is killing the air flow through the header.

it would make a huge difference if the header you have now is cracked and crushed

Dooooode,
lol Ebay header works fine, and they're only 50 bucks.
Just be sure to get the stainless ones.
dents do kill airflow,
You should wrap it while you're at it too

Ebay headers are junk. They are not tuned, they do not have optimal primary, or secondary tuning, construction is poor. Have you looked into the ports on your ebay header?

How great of stainless are you getting if the price of the header is less than the cost of the material.

What do you mean dent don't kill airflow? They sure as hell do. A dent will make the piping smaller. If you had a 2 1/2 inch secondary and its dented to 1 1/2 you basically only have a 1 1/2 in secondary. Its going to slow airflow all the way up to that point.

Wraping an ebay header will do 2 things contain heat to speed airflow and concentrate heat onto poor welds causing it to crack.

The ebay header is a knock off of the dc sports so it works fine, there's tons of people that have one and agree. For 50 bucks, you don't lose anything.
I have mine wrapped and it's held up for two years so far. I've read the dc sports one wrapped, cracks also. How much do you think it costs to make the name brand ones

A well designed header using quality manderal bent material is quite expensive. Ever heard of bisimoto? Very good example of a well designed header, high quality material, high quality welds and you will not find one used for $50. Its not always the material that justifies the cost of a header.

Besides, a copy of a shitty header is just a shittier header.

Oh and I did misread your post. Sorry about that.

It's real hard to find a bisi header. They're like 500.00 dollars.
I don't use wrap anymore, just that vht paint, but just for looks I guess, because the paint has to be sprayed from the inside to insulate I heard

Only reason it cracked was because i hit a big lump in the street and it hit the header right on. But i got a welding machine should i just weld the crack and drive that or get the hytech, the megan still has a big dent will i lose a lot of power?

Instead of repairing one that's been damaged just buy a new one. Doesn't really matter what kind just as long as it works fine and does its job. So you might have to spend a few bills but it's worth it. Plus if i were you i would have a whole lot more peace of mind knowing that i have a new header rather than one that's repaired. I had a DC sports Rep off eBay and i'm sorry to say that it did crack. So if i were you, i'd get the quality stuff. Especially for a part such as a header. Something like that it's important to get the good ****. Just my 2 cents.

You should look into the ground clearance of a hytech replica, might bottom out just like the one you have now.
