Default snapped a shifter cable

how the hell did this happen
i ordered a new one
but im just wondering how this occurs
guess im not letting my friends drive anymore

yea they stretch n get fubared.

im on my 3rd set now.

FYI-k series and H-series use the same cables

And on a car they were designed to be used for, they dont just "Stretch" there is something else that is causing them to snap here.

they stretch and then break. Happened to me once.

i wasnt spending 400 dollars on oem ones
got it off ebay for 65 hopefully they are good

wait it was 400$ for some new ones... damn thats what i have to look forward to. Mine just broke yesterday. i was going into revers then i heard a thud and the next thing i know the stick was just floting.

I should have known something was going to happen because it became very hard to shift two days before that...

I'm gonna take a look at those ebay ones

look around if you find some kseries ones you can use those too. k series ones have been getting cheaper and cheaper. they go for about 150 out here around the tri-state(eastcoast)

Would anyone happen to know the part number for the cable of a H23 and the K20? I'm looking on Majestic honda, but these parts are not even listed.

define H-series

4th and 5th gen cables are different, and presumabely accord shift cables are different as well.

they match to the shifters, is the K series (EP3 RSX civic...etc) and 4th gen shifters the same too?

Damn, I've ownd a prelude for 11 years and never broke one set of shifter cables. You guys must power shift like the incredible hulk or something.

yeah i was power shifting pretty hard for a day or two cause getting it into gear became a workout. I guess that last shift into revers was the last straw.

now you learned the tough lesson of never letting your friends drive.
i let my friend drive my car the second day i got it and ended up with a $2440 to repair the engine.
