Track tire Set up ?
I have a type r with the jdm 98 spec 16" spoke rims. Would a 225/45/16 fit well or would i not be able to turn the wheel?
Anyone runnin this setup? Is this too wide? Im wondering if 215 might be the widest. Please let me know, i have a good deal for these but dont wanna jump if they wont work.

even a 215 will cause rubbing if your fenders aren't rolled.
best bet is a 205/45/16 tire
Potenza RE-01R's or Azenis 615's would be your best bet unless you want to run R compound...
The RE-01R's are EXPENSIVE but they hold up way better at the track VS Azenis, which tend to get greasy once they get hot.
It is either the Toyo R888's or the Nitto NT-01's. Both the R888 and the NT-01 use the same tire compound, while the R888 is supposed to have a slightly stiffer sidewall. Basically, just get which one is cheaper.
Hope this helps.

I'll look into the 2 to see whats best for canyon/track setup with occasional street driving.

225/45R16 would work with 16x7 35 offset wheels.
In Japan, company called "Seeker" has a DC2 with 225/45ZR16 (16X8 35+ offset FR) and 195/55R15 (15x7, 45 offset+ RR)

Track tires...it is not talking about your street tire setup...
who runs all-season tires on the track...
if you have enough power and wider front fender/fender flare
you can try 245/40/17 or 255/40/17, front and 215/45/17 rear - A048 (for summer tires, u can try RE01R, azenis, R1R, XS, z1 star spec,...i think most of them has this sizes)
that's what the spoon K20 EK9 runs

ive been ruing 205's on an 8 inch wide wheels for like 5 years with out a single issue.
Suppose you could quantify the chance of a tire failure with overwide wheels, and it's 50 percent (or even 5 percent). Does that mean they're fine to run, just because you happened to be part of the lucky 50 (or 95) percent?
