car died while driving
today while i was driving my 94 accord lx down the freeway, it just lost power and died. then i sat there and tried to crank it. and it would just sit there and crank. the battery light would flash while i would sit there and crank the motor over.. im assuming alternator. but i also wouldnt rule out main relay or fuel pump, any suggestions?? btw i havent had time to check for fuel and spark yet, car died 40 min away from house and didnt have tools on me at the time, heading there now to check it out.
Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to the on position? If you can hear it then it is not the fuel pump.
Have your alternator and battery tested. If your battery alt & fuel pump all test OK have your ignition tested. Starting with the coil, igniter unit & the main relay. If I were to take a guess to what it is I would say that it is probably the igniter unit (also referred to as the ignition module) inside the distributor.

Now you have to determine why. (most likely Alternator)
If it still soils itself, you could well have a defective Ignition Switch.
It seems to be the "Failure D'Jour" of late.

Again, jump it with another running vehicle and see if it starts / runs
Donor Vehicle:
Attach the cables normally on the donor vehicle.
Patient Vehicle:
Attach the Positive+ Jumper Cable end to the Battery+ terminal and
Attach the Negative- Jumper Cable end to an Engine bracket.
This bypasses the dead battery and allows the patient car to start off the donor's electrical system.
