Red Coolant/Antifreeze in a Honda
Picked up some Prestone coolant today, didn't realize that it was RED until I got home. It's phosphate/silicate free, just like Honda stuff. Seems like many new cars come with it.
Should I get some Honda antifreeze instead, or is this stuff good?

I had the same delema u did when i was changing my thermo, but it was too late for me to go exchange it. Ive been running it for about ~10k and no problems at all. Although I have heard that switching from the green to red kind can cause corrison in the water pump. anyone else?
55K on the clock, ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) Sensor went bad. Temporarily fixed it with a paperclip, but figured I should replace it one of these days. Replacing thermostat as well.
Ran 85% water/15% green coolant for the past 3 months, figured might as well go back to 50/50 once I replace ECT/thermostat.
If the corrosion myth is indeed true, I'd rather hold off and get proper antifreeze. What's everyone running anyway?

Your saying you used a paperclip to short together the terminals in the ECT connector? Might try a 330ohm resistor, which more simulates a fully warmed up car.
