Default True Street Car Race Poll #3

For some time ive been thinking about renting a track for a day to have a FWD
DOT Tire Shootout for Honda's only but i still have a lot of planning to do for it.
I'm gonna do a few polls on H-T to help me figure a few things out..ok here goes the question...Should the car have its full interior and i mean everything, two front seats, rug, headliner, back seat(except of coarse the 2 seater CRX),radio, spare tire and jack(who doesnt drive around without a spare) etc etc or should i allow gutting and removal of stuff.

Since gutting your car is street legal you should allow it.

I daily drive my car - it has full interior with the exception of no back seat and no spare tire/jack.

I think you should allow interior gutting, but im sure if someone runs fast times on full interior they will get respect.

jinx,,your car will probably be gone before i set this up,itll be either late this year or next year..it will be on the east coast,i'm not sure what track yet,im saving that for another poll...side bet, sure if its still around but as far as the meet,it wont be a heads up elimination, itll be whoever has the fastest time slip at the end of the day,period..and there will be some prize money for the fastest slip.

I think the key thing should be tires. Slicks shouldn't be allowed. Gutting is also not really "street-ish." Race gas is anyone's game.

Gutting is personal preference in the Honda camp.

If a guy runs 12's gutted and the next guy runs the same time with full interior...........people know who the props go to.

DO what you gotta do to win.

Shows who is in it to win it. My car has the spare out....the jack out...and the back seat cushions......not near gutted but people think its "lighter" without a few things in it. 30lbs isnt the end of the world.

And by the rules.................its STREET LEGAL

I wouldnt say that, more the N/A camp than anything...I was thinking maybe allow only N/A cars to gut out and FI cars must have full interior cause if your N/A your gonna need all the help you could possibly get to keep up with the turbo and nitrous cars.

street legal is what your average guy has on the street. and there are quite a few that show up to the street races with race gas, drag radials, and stripped interiors. most sanctioned import events with street classes allow removal of anything behind the drivers seat. any type of gas too. no cutting of any part of the unibody( like fuel cells or lexan). i'd stick to those rules and keep them the same for every car, honda/dsm/toyota/acura....blah, blah...........and only dot approved tires. drag radials are dot approved and allowed in every santioned street class out there.

I would allow removal of all interior panels since that is pretty easy to do.

but lexan windows, fuel cells, drag radials/slicks, excessive carbon or fiberglass parts, and missing cat. converters would not be allowed.

why wouldn't drag radials be allowed. see this is just rediculous. so many people run them everyday. they are the only set of tires i use on the front of both of my cars. evryone i know almost uses them. they're dot approved.

d-man, setting up an event like this is such a hassle. i think your already seeing that. and not allowing dot tires in a street class event is just retarded.

i think that drag radials would be fine and then the gutting of the interior from the front seats back would be fine. a fuel cell what is wrong with that i know ppl that have fuel cells just for show? great idea on the race thought i would even come over from the west coast to race in it

A true street car is not a gutted bitch car. No trailer queens can testify to being "street cars."

Street legality has nothing to do with it.

Why don't you do it like the Mustang street car guys do it?

Have in addition to the drag race a mandatory 25 mile cruise. There can be no fillups, etc, and if you breakdown on this cruise you can't run in the drag race.

that's just too much for one to put together and itll gets too confusing rather just get everyone too the track, get everyone's info and start making passes, that way,if anybody is late, they could jump right it.

The ony things mandatory should be glass near seats (lexan rears permitted if the rear seats are removed) Removal of the back seats, carpet etc. But the car must have a dash and front seats, and carpet in the front.

As for the spare, I say that it shouldnt be mandatory to have, but if you drive to the track without one, you cant borrow your friends to get home should be the rule, cause if your driving on the freeway and you have a flat with no spare, what are you gonna do? Flag down a honda owner that you don't know and ask to borrow their spare?

not a problem for my car. it won't be the cheapest 25 miles.....but still, not a problem.
