Corey - when you read this...I feel your pain. SUCKS...doesn't it!!!
Congrats to everyone else!!! Good Job!!!
Anyone see how the Viper did in the American Iron race? Note: he had to start from the back of the pack....he was taking it VERY VERY easy and slow and still running 1:48's.

Matt,
You still got the record.
Sunday Qualified: 2:02.032 / race lap 2:03.xxx
The 110 mph spin in the kink kinda ruined my chance on Sunday.
Saturday I was closer. Qualified 2:00.885 / race lap 2:01.xxx
Sunday, I had too many problems to list.
Square tires ( post- spin), wrong pads and DAMMIT!!!!! no one to play with!!!!!!!!
John
the lone H5 guy.

I saw that you qualified in the even 2:00s on Saturday, that is why I thought you would have taken the record on Sunday! Sorry to hear about the spin, and the lack of competition. Time to start needling Richard to come back and race again!!!

Yours and Alex's spin almost were Identical... Except he kicked up a bigger cloud of dust... it was huge which had us all on our toes... we were afraid that he may have went over... but was glad to see that sandy dirt does not have much grab! and you both came out ok.

Yeah, Richard and ANYBODY!!!!!
Please.......... H5 is a great low-cost, entry level class!!!!!!!!!
If your looking to keep your racing costs low this is it. Plus racing a 'slower' ( H5- 2:00 vs H1- 1:52's) car teaches (IMHO) momentum skills that will always transfer to the faster cars. If you scrub off speed in a H5 car with 100hp, you will pay for it big time.
I will in time move up to another H-C class, but the stuff I'm learning now I hope later will make me that much better.
Again, IMHO........... someone who is looking to see if road racing is something they can and want to do H5 is a great option.
Maybe I'll start a thread on "WHY" H5 is a great class! When I get my thoughts together. The 11 hour drive last night is still taking it's toll.
BTW. Someone ( maybe Scott G.) told me that the every ECHC H1 thru H5 racing at CMP was faster than the fastest Porsche 944 cup cars. I never had a chance to double check the lap times. Anybody have those figures handy.
John H5
- who is still getting the dirt out of the Civic from the spin.
Edit- Good Job in the Tower David! ...................... Thanks!

Well Keith,
What I saw on both of those was the cars when in the kink and the back end did not stick and stepped out so they were "Drifting"
through the kink.. they did come back across the track and stop short of the tire wall.

I agree with you, H5 is definitely the best way to go for a beginner, or anyone who wants to race without exploding the bank account. I know my case is probably the exception, not the rule, but I'm racing with less than $4500 invested in my car, trailer, and all parts. After it takes it's trip to OPM and gets all of the other work done before Lowes, it should be built to almost 10/10ths of the rules, and I still won't have but about $8600 in it, including tires. I just don't see racing anything else but an H5 for less than that and still being even remotely competitive in class.
The great thing about H5 is you can pick up 1st-gen CRX/Civic Si's and 1st-gen Integras built to ITA spec at REALLY great prices compared to other SCCA IT cars since the SCCA classes have kinda screwed these cars competitively. I've seen some really awesome '86 - '87 CRX Si's for sale, fully prepped and ready to race, for prices that just blew me away.
To anyone who wants to race, H5 is definitly the way to start. Personally I'd rather race with the little guys than sit on the sidelines and wish that I could afford to run with the "fast guys!"

Not sure what your weights look like but keep in mind our minimum weight is 2800 lbs. and we can't do things like change air filters or headers
