My honda accord 92 vibrates alot when I stopped
Hi,
I have a question that when I stop my honda accord car with my auto gear at D4 and has my foot on brakes, it vibrates alot. from inside I can feel it on steering wheel and also on bonet of car.
Can anyone give me the reason as to why I am getting this?
Thanks.

If (on the other hand) this does this exclusively when the brakes are applied, you have warped front Brake Rotors.
The rotors will require remachining (assuming they are still within specs) and this service can be performed either on or off the car. IF they are too thin to be remachined safely, they will require replacement (not a fun job).

also in some cases, defective pads can cause violent shaking while braking.
Either
*Alignment is off (most common)
*Suspension is bent, loose, or not working properly in all aspects
*Low tire pressure
*Warped/Old rotors or brake pads

not to hijack the thread, but I have a related question. My girlfriend has a 92 mazda protege and when it is in drive at idle, it vibrates really bad. however if it is moving or is in nuetral, it doesn't vibrate. any idea if this would be a motor mount issue?
The engine trys to reposition itself when you put it in gear. The vibation comes from it either being too close to something hard (chassis crossmember, radiator support - you get the idea).
When it's in drive (even while idling) the engine is straining against the mounts holding it because of torque. If one is broken, it (the engine) shifts out of position and vibrates against something. Putting it in neutral negates this because the engine isn't working against anything (like the axles).
Even moving (driving) can minimize this since the engine would only strain against it's mounts during hard acceleration.

No, there would be no adverse effects to power output (other than a reluctance to press the issue)
Motor and Transmission mounts only effect the safe retention of the motor to the chassis and afford an isolation factor which seperates the occupants from the normal engine vibrations.
They design most Motor Mounts such that the opposing metal base plates (seperated by the iso material interlock. This to say that if the mount were to fail, the engine would still be restrained. It's movement would be limited.
