water marks on windows/windsheilds
It will buff off with a medium compound and a wool pad very quickly but you have to be careful. Water spots are calcium deposits and compounds will chew it all up because glass isn't as pourous as your clear coat. It is manditory that you get some good painter's tape and mask off ALL surrounding trim and painted pieces. If you're comfortable with a buffer it will work just fine, but if not I would wait to hear a couple alternative suggestions from other members first.
i've heard of using a vinegar solution, but i tried it back in the day on my 89 accord and it had no effect on waterspots on the windshield. i saw try buffing it as well, but have yet to test this theory
i'm asking some of the regulars on the detailing forums about this very question...
the key is to remove the spots and freshen the glass w/o inducing any additional or different damage.
my question was centered around using a PC (Porter Cable 7424) and existing products in my stash.
i'll report back....

There are many ways to clean the windows, the most common procedure that people tend to use is the old fashion Wxxxxx product with news papers, up to date people swear by this old fashion method, some of those products will indeed work however much care should be taken if your vehicle has tinted windows. The wrong product will damage the tinted film.
For the inside, we used a wet chamois and we wipe them afterward with specially made Microfiber towels made for glass, technology has allowed us to get our hands in such of product.
We like to use them because Microfiber is able to accumulate and absorb more particles of dirt and bacteria than any other fabric known. It can absorb up to 7 times its weight in dirt or liquid. Microfiber fabric consists of two basic fibers, Polyester and Polyamide. The microfiber surface contains hundreds of thousands of microscopic "hooks" per square inch that attract grease, dirt, and grime like a magnet.
For the outside to tackle light stains, water marks,etc, I first try clay bar/oxidation block, if that dont work a mix of 50/50 vinegar/water at times does the job if done correctly otherwise you will have even more stains, for extreme cases I use;
A Body Shop ACC Aluminum and Chrome Cleaner which removes water spots and creates a clear finish. Simply spray the product onto a clean dry applicator and rub in a circular motion. Then rinse with plenty of water. Avoid letting the product run down onto the painted surface. if this happens, you must rinse right away with water. We have done this many times with great results.

Your PC should work very well when combined with a cutting pad and an abrasive compound. I'm not familiar with the PC related products and my rotary has worked with outstanding results in the past, thus my original suggestion.

Just bought some of this http://www.detailedimage.com/Chemica...-Remover-P194/ . I havn't got to try it yet though.
Yeah I have found this to work crazy good. My dad had a camry that my grandma had parked in a sprinkler system with hard water for like 2 years and the glass was so stained that on a sunny day, it was hard to see through because of all the spots. I used this method and found that it makes the glass look brand new. I have noticed slight very fine scratches in certain areas, but not all. I am not sure about that.
