Default how strong is this motor?

i have a chance to get an 02 rsx-s for 7500. my question is it has ~125k on the motor. all stock primarily highway miles. i was wondering how long these k-series motors last, and will the amount of miles effect me modding it?

if your a honda owner you should know the answer to this question, if not then you will be fine...125k on the clock is low enought that you shouldnt have any problems with it...if you dont trust it, dont buy it!!

My old EF had 220K when I traded her in... Burned less oil than my "normal oil consumption" K series. Like less than 1 qt every 3000 miles. Ran like a champ and had 3 years or worry free ownership. Bought it for 1200, traded it for 1000 3 years later. That's value!

IT'S A HONDA! You take care of it and it will take car of you.

well i already own a 93 prelude w/ JDM H22A swap so i know how long they last, but i was thinking about diving into the k-power world and i was jus wondering if it was even worth modding? Most likely just basic stuff (I/H/E) but i also have a new TB + IM lined up if i get it

First year (02) rsx-s engine's had some issues with oil consumption and the valve springs didn't like over-reving lol Other than that, my )2 K20A2 with aftermarket valve-train has been problem free. We'll see with 10+ psi this spring

Which is weird that they wouldn't rev high because isn't the 02 the only one with dual valve springs.

the dual valve springs are what caused the problems because they were too effective and unforgiving.. they went to singles because of the amount of over revs that happened. but anywho the k series is an awsome platform and as soon as parts become cheaper youll see even more of them being modified, even tho the number is already huge, since ive blown one 3 times now. lol

Interesting, I never could figure it out till i read the last couple posts including yours. I Had an 04 and I Mis-shifted and over reved the F*** out of my k20 and bent all valves except one, then i re-did the head but didnt invest in Dual valves spring until i over reved again racing a cobra, then after wards never had the problem again. but When I got my 02 I mis shifted while driving home one night and scared the shat out of me because I forgot it was my 04 but turned the car was fine. so ya, prob thats why. Dint know that about the 02's
