That could be a couple things, could be just a black basecoat, tinted primer/tinted sealer, hell it could even be spray paint...stupid *** to spray paint a bmw, but it wouldn't suprise me. If you want that look I'd suggest a tinted primer and a tinted sealer. If you go to bare metal make sure you always have a sealer over top of the primer if its going to be exposed to the elements for a period of time, primer is porous and will actually draw in moisture and cause rust...but post some pics after you decide what to go with!

that is most likely a FLAT/SATIN paint job, regular black basecoat with a flattened clearcoat. not just a tinted sealer or primer like metioned above.although it could be, but those will not stay good looking for long . Doing a proper flat paint job is like i mentioned, spraying regular black basecoat and then proceeding with clearcoating it for protection, the clearcoat is mixed with a flattening agent to take away the shine but to still provide protection, you get the protection of a clearcoat without the shine.

I actually found a 1 stage out there and I bought it the other day. I will be spraying it over the winter, and I would like to see the results.

I almost guarantee that is not paint at all, and is a vinyl wrap.

I just finished spraying this stuff. Difficult to spray. Waiting for it to dry.
