Wheels---> Custom painting?
Okay, so I fell in love with these RAYs wheels and the custom pink pin stripe. see (http://flickr.com/photos/gp-photography/2987825437/) (nevermind the girl)
So, I am thinking about doing something like that and have a few questions...
Since I'll have to get them custom painted, should I get black wheels or should I stick with a non-painted finish since they will have to sand them etc.
Also, who/where do you think my best bet is to get a custom paint job? An autobody place? Someone online?
Anyone had it done before? What should I expect to pay? I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle a DIY
Thanks.

well since the wheels are gonna be black already, think the paint shop can work around the wheel already being painted. especially if u just want the lip colored you know what i mean?
my friend got his rims painted at an autobody place.

hmm, i don't see a pink stripe there, lol.
OP, strong choice. i happen to love pink as well and am not afraid to rock various pink things, lol. have you thought about powdercoating instead? paint is nice, but it's not as durable as pc. not nearly, esp if done properly with good stuff.
if it's possible to do the stripe, this guy can handle it...IF it's possible- http://www.boneheadperformance.com/M...2/merchant.mvc
he's the best powdercoating outfit in the NJ/PA/MD area from my research.

lol...

one prob with using unique colors like pearls on wheels is touching them up is a nightmare if you get a chip or something. the spot you try to touch up, even with some extra base from the same batch as your touchup. that's another reason i prefer PC if you are going to get creative with pearls or metallics. then again, PC can't necessarily be touched up with paint to match too well if it's some crazy color, but PC is so strong that it's less likely to have a defect anyway, so between the two it's still the better choice IMO.

www.wheelcollision.com can do ANYTHING with wheels.
I've referred 100's of members on H-t and they have been doing wheels for vortex and various other forums/dealerships for years.
and prices are great.

My fav too
Id rock them anyway if I had my stockers just laying around.LOL
You could always DIY and have a decal place make the pink stripe for you.

Sand w/ fine 800 grit.

Clean, clean, clean and clean some more. Then spray.

Completed.

Refinishing some wheels on my Civic.

dang...
you do know that the company "racing sparco" who made those wheels is not the same sparco as the new logo you applied, right?
two different companies...
just an FYI.
wheels look nice tho ; )

Right by where I live.
They redesigned the logo. I also have Sparco seats as well with the new logo. I own two sets of Sparco Wheels. One set is the DS2 with the new logo, and the NS6R had the old logo. They both had the same slogan of "For Men With the Drive to Win." Both sets came with the exact same brochure inside the boxes. Both sets are made by Crimson, Japan.
Here are the two sets together on my 350z. Maybe you know something I don't?

If you look at the centercap of the NS6R wheels there is an S from the new Sparco logo.

i worked for sparco (the seats/safety equipment/ steering wheel company) as an outside sales rep for a period of years so you aren't the first person to have this come up.
Sparco, the seats, the logo you applied to the wheels, the racing suits, the steering wheels, etc..., the company i worked for, is Italian. they are based in Italy, in Turin, and have a US office in CA with the address you listed.
Racing Sparco, the wheels you have, are from here http://www.crimson-inc.co.jp/
they are totally unrelated entities, despite having the term 'sparco' in the brand name. the sparco logo you have applied to your wheels is the italian Sparco, who has nothing to do with wheels, period.
i hope that clears it up ; )
EDIT: when i was with Sparco, i didn't know that Crimson was making a wheel line called "Team Sparco", which has a similar "S" to the Italian Sparco. it's not the same, but it's VERY similar in style. that is the center cap you must have on the one set of wheels. it's my impression that "team sparco" is more of a tuner/street line of wheels from crimson. VERY interesting how the "S" looks so similar though...

believe me...
you have no idea how many people would ask where the wheels were in the sparco catalog....
but you bring up a good point about that center cap. if i still worked for them, i'd DEF inquire about that and see why they don't sue, but no workie, no care ; )
