How much oil for our motors d series b series k series
hey,
I just read though a shop manual I bought, it says the d16 takes only 3 qts.
I always put in around 31/2 for it to reach the upper dot on the dip stick.
am I putting in too much, where should the oil mark be on the dipstick?
For example: d16a6 o----*-o-----------------P <- dipstick
I know too much oil can cause leaks so I just wanted to ask.
add other engines to if you know them.
Thanks

i always fill mine 4quarts, but then again i have 3 oil leaks hahaha. waiting for my parts to come from honda so i can rebuild this sucker
I didnt know too much oil can cause leaks
I just did an oil change yesterday and put 4 quarts in my d15 (doh!) and I have a minor leak already, and im pretty sure everything was tightened down good.......ill have to check again. Where exactly does the leaks come from? The drain plug and/or oil filter?

no, you can blow a seal with too much oil in the engine, but generally thats an excessive amount. a couple tenths over isnt gonna destroy it. and if you know you have a leak i'd advise to overfill it just a bit, just keep checking on it.
