Post budget suspension

what is the best suspension for a 4 door ef when your budget is about 500 dollars. my car is currently stock and im not planning on doing to much to it other than just a stock b series swap. what would be a good set of coilovers or spring and strut set to lower it a few inches and keep close to s tock ride quality, thanks

This is my favorite spring/strut setup. Tokico Illuminas w/ Tein S Tech spring. A little over $500 but well worth the money.

tein basic has worked great for me. I read a review on skunk that said it was good also, and it has the top mounts, unlike tein. Though I think the koni set tup like everyone says might be the best

Go with the #1 most popular, proven track setup: Ground Controls on either Koni Yellows, or Tokico Illuminas. I picked up mine used for $325 and that was a good price, but not special by any means. You can buy everything new for about $600-700.

If you're not planning on going very low, you can get lower quality shocks and still be ok, e.g. Tokico HP's. But for a serious drop (i.e. no wheel gap or lower), you definitely want some nice shocks.

KYB AGX shocks with tein springs. With the AGX's you are able to adjust how stiff you want your ride to be.

well since your on a budget, but you have 500 already saved, then why not save like 2-400 more and get yourself a nice full coilover setup. I mean c'mon 500 is already enough to buy a decent supension for a decent price. Yes, you can never go wrong with the GC/koni setup, or tein, skunk2, PIC, or even eibach systems. You get what you pay for. Its all up to you. think about it though. what is your purpose for your car? do you plan on tracking it or is it a daily driver? These things you have to consider. Cuz money is money and if you have enough to spare, then you could be my next best friend. But seriously though, look around for the best deals. If i wear you i would save a few hundred more and invest also in a bushing kit, camber kit, a rear sway bar and perhaps better tires. These things will help you car hook like a train going 80 at any given turn. I hope this helps you a lil bit.

A lot of shocks let you adjust the stiffness---Koni Yellows and Tokico Blues included.

AGX's are good shocks though, my buddy has them on his DC2 and they dampen very well on the highest setting.

yea.....what he said. blues aren't adjustable, the illuminas are. and also has no one else had the problems i had with the koni yellows? i had the yellows with eibach springs and then switched to tein springs, not that the springs matter, but anyways and they were noisy as hell. every little bump or dip in the road and there would be a loud squeaking sound coming from all of them. maybe I just got a bad set but i don't see how all 4 could be bad.

depending on what your looking for drop wise i would search around for springs that lower to your standards, but anyway i have a crx, i put on tokico illumina's because of the adjustability, and i put on tanabe GF lowering springs.. in my opinion, it lowered the front perfect for me on 15 inch wheels, i have a tri y header so i dont want it too low in the front, i still have to be a little careful but the front is perfect in my opinion, and the back, ehh its lowered, i wish it was a little bit more lowered, but i can live with it.

edit: oh yea, i spend a think a few dollars over 400.. i ordered springs and struts from ebay, springs from a vendor on there, and i believe the fronts from a vendor, and the rears were from a person that were brand new, never used, he just wrecked his car or something

oops, I meant to write "whites". As you can see in my post before that, I mentioned Koni Yellows and Tokico Illuminas (whites). Just a typo on my part.
