Default Help...... Engine Hydrolock probs drove through a deep puddle of water

Hey guys, i drove my 2000 civic Ex last Friday through a deep puddle of water with an AEM cold air intake and ended up sucking in a huge pile of H20 my engine was dying but what was i to do, cant get stuck in the middle of the street in a deep *** puddle and with mad pouring rain,so revved my car like crazy, next day my check engine light turned on and now i get exhaust backfires and engine hesitations around low RPMS around 2.5 and abnormal idlling when my car is just started sitting by itself, What can i do about this? is it going to affect my performance at all in the track? im going wed. cant backout cause im going with a lot of people.. what shoul i do with the motor?, Thanks in advance

Omigod, you're fucked!!!

Just joking, dumb thing to do, but eh.

Hmm, I tried leaning my fuel a little and running at idle for a few hours to burn everything off. Just watch for Detonating. Took longer than a couple of hours.

You're lucky it runs at all.

Need to check the valves too. Clearances should be WAY off.

And YES, it will definately hurt performance. Giant puddles of water should not be driven through with a CAI Gotta think there man.

And if it happens again, DON'T REV!!!
PUSH IT OUT. Better to get you feet wet than replacing 4 bent rods

Oh, do a dry compreesion test. And cross your fingers

There was no way out.... its a oneway highway huge traffic behind me, plus i didnt think it was that deep cause i usually drive there with that puddle, i dont know my car doesnt feel any diffrent performance wise its just that, my exhaust backfires a lot now and i get abnormal idling when just parked its like my cars gonna die but i doesnt i even sprayed my fogger last night it doesnt feel any diffrent

I'd still do a compression test and check the valve clearances if you can. You're a lucky one
