Well, changed my timing belt myself and you know what?
It wasn't that hard.
I just used my Helm's and did it myself...took me about 7 hours but only because I quadruple checked my work and timing, until I was absolutely confident. All these horror stories about getting valves bent up scared me at first, but it was no big deal really. Some of the bolts were a total bitch to get at, especially the water pump bolts. I thought I was gonna give up on a few of them. It's almost impossible to rotate the crank pulley by accident, same with the cam gear, the valve train keeps that gear in check...overall, out of a 1-10, and after looking back at all the steps, I give it a 6 in difficulty...just goes to show you with the right info and confidence you can do almost anything...thanks for all those guys who answered my questions about this that I posted earlier.

haha, i remember when i first did mine, i was the same way. SOHC is simple then DOHC was another story. Now it's easy since then. SOmetimes you can get careless on think you got it good and then jack **** up.

the only thing i can complain about with Honda motors...the oil filter is a bitch to get to
yeah, good job man. I hope mine goes as well as yours did, I am contemplating doing mine next month or two (civic dx HB-93) and have the same concerns you did. I have done other stuff but never a timing belt. Did you need a special tool to move the crankshaft? I hear that some people do not bother to move it to TDC because at TDC it tends to move on you. I was told to just check everything once I was done but that I could do it without moving to TDC before taking the belt off.

Yeah, good job, can you post some details, just like if there are any special tools needed, etc, any tricky spots, any tips to ease, etc. I was supposed to do mine back at 90,000, and i now have 115,000+ so any help will be good. Oh and where can I get the Helms Manual?
P.S. I may do a swap in a couple of months, should I just not waste the money on the belt and hold off, or do it anyway? Thanks.
