Car and harness is OBD2, engine is OBD1 will ecu work with engine?

Car and harness is OBD2, engine is OBD1 will ecu work with engine?
Ok so my civic and the engine harness i'm using is OBD2, I'm running a obd1 gsr engine and ecu right now. However, i have a faulty ecu, and the only p72 ecu i could fine in my area is an OBD2 one. Do you guys think i'll run into any problems if i get the OBD2 ecu?
By the way the car is a 98 so its already wired with the secondary O2 sensor.
