Default Clunking Noise

Hello,

I have a 1999 Honda Accord, automatic 2.3 lieter and I'm hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the front of the car when I am driving, especially when I accelerate or de-accelerate. It sounds like something is about to break. Also the steering wheel is vibrating when I drive.

For a couple of months the clunking noise was only when I went over bumps and wasn't real loud, now the since yesterday it's doing it all the time. Any ideas on what this could be? I just had new break pads and rotars put on the front about a month ago.

Is it a hard metal/metal clunk, or a metal/rubber thud?
Is it rythmic? Does it do it turning? Only over bumps? More going forward that reversed?

If I was sitting in the car, I could probably put my hands right on the problem... but this is a tough venue for diagnosing noises

I would have to say more of a metal/rubber thud. It does not thud when I am turning, only when going over bumps and straight driving. Does not thud in reverese.

Thanks.

I'm thinking one of several things:
1) Upper Strut Mounts (sounds upper (Dash cover area))
2) Inner sway bar mounts (sounds lower (by your feet))
3) Motor Mount (sounds lower (a) by Drivers feet), b) by Passengers' feet), c) below console).

Possible. But he said he just had new pads & rotors put on recently. When I had my balljoints done, they had to take my rotors and everthing off. Soon after this, my car started clunking bad when accelarating from a dead stop and coming to a stop. I figured they forgot to put something back correctly.

I took my front wheels off and tightened the 2 front caliper pins/bolts that are found on the inside of the brake setup (the two bolts that hold the caliper on). I'll try finding a diagram for you if you dont understand what im talking abut. After tightening these bolts, the clunking went away.

I just got done driving again. The clunking and steering wheel vibration gets gets worse as I am slowing down and not braking. When I am braking there is no clunking. When I accelerate it still clunks but not as bad as when I take my foot off the gas.

Lube all your bushings. Tighten everything you can.
