Default 88 Civic Sedan AUTO problems....please help

Ok, remember my sedan is an AUTO

1988 Civic Sedan LX.

When driving my car it runs great. Timing is perfect and plugs and wires are new. When I come to a stop at a light, the engine will stumble every once in a while. When I put the car into neutral, it wont do it. When in drive, it feels like the car is wanting to move, like the trans is unlocking and wanting to go. The idle dropes and the car lurches just the slightest bit.

A tech at my work said possibly the servo/switch that controls the torque converter when the car is stopped in drive could be going out. I have never heard such a thing, but the car runs like a champ besides the stutter at a stop. It is getting worse, but still the car shifts and drives like brand new.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lock up torque converter switch/solenoid may be going out. On allot of cars there is a separate plug for the lock-up solenoid that you can just unplug, not sure about the honda auto's though.
