Default 00 si harness won't fit on 00 ek??

I asked on ht before I started taking out the old harness and I was told that this would work but now that I am trying to do it I can't seem to figure it out. There's too many plugs that don't go to anything. I realize that there may be a few that I wouldn't use. Like cruise control, power stearing, and ac.. But there's even one for the window wiper fluid that seems to be missing. I don't know what else to do. What are my options right now? All I can think of is to swap out more parts from the si I am parting out so that it will work better with the harness. Like if I took out the fluid container for the wiper fluid.. Etc. Steering column was busted on the si so I can't swap that out. I'm hoping I am just lookin at this wrong and someone can guide me on the right path. Were the people that told me this harness would fit lying to me? please help. Time is of the essence I am working on the car right now while I'm typing this thread with my iphone. I don't get much time away from work so please help asap if you know what I'm doing wrong.. Thanks

just because theres plugs not going to anywhere doesnt mean its a problem unless your using a si ecu where it will be looking for the voltage signals from the plugs that arent conected. connect what u can go start it and see what codes u throw and go from there.

bump for some help.

also heres a little update of what i have been doing in the meantime to figure this **** out..

I talked to a friend of mine and he said that i should try to look for conversion harnesses for si to ek. I tried password jdm and hasport. password jdm said that they dont think such a thing exists, and that it would have to be a custom wiring job. According to hasports website, the only conversion harness they have for 96-00 civic ek is a K-swap harness.

ekb16> the reason why i chose to take the si harness is because i took the doors from the si. i wanted the power door locks and windows. so rather than mounting the motor for the window and re-doing the locks on the stock door, i took the whole door from the si part-out and decided to swap the entire harness. before i did this, i went on H-T and asked whats the best way, and they said take the harness because it would be pretty easy to install. im starting to regret it now...

kgibson16> i realize there could be many things that dont plug in, ie. moonroof, cruise control, rear wiper fluid hose, power doors and mirros, etc. However, there are some plugs that seem like they should fit, but dont. the particular one I can think of off the top of my head, is the one that is located right above the steering column. it has a white connector i believe and its about the size of a nickel in diameter. why would this one be different? it looks very important. can anyone tell me what this plug does?

I am getting pretty frustrated. I almost want to just pay someone to come wire this bitch. but i dont want to spend the money and even more than that.... i wanna know how to do it myself. I have this honda civic service manual, but the electrical part confuses the hell out of me

i need help. anyone have any ideas? if you guys need to see pictures, I can take some this weekend and have them up by next week. thanks

if a custom conversion must be done, can someone link me to something that shows me how to do it? it seems like a longshot, but have to ask...

Okay, I'm not sure which harness you're talking about, but I've seen a '98 EX coupe floor harness fit on a '97 CX hatch. It was for a power door conversion and everything worked just fine.

are you talking about the engine harness or the interior harness? and if so how do you know it doesnt work? what is wrong with it? it is because there are alot of plugs that arent used? or is it because you plugged everything in and it doesnt work?

NOFX & raidacaipo > i took out all of the harnesses from the 2000 civic hatch shell and trying to install the 2000 SI harnesses. So, the ones that dont plug in to anything are just fine as is? do I have to do something to the fuse box afterwards? the cars not at my house right now and the snow is preventing me from attempting to drive there to take a pic for you guys. i will get a picture up ASAP. so far, i know that in order for me to get the wiper fluid to work for the rear windshield, i have to do some converting near the windshield fluid resevior. Also, i understand that I need to do some harness conversions for the rear lights to work because the ek lights are different.. is there anything else that i need to convert? mainly i am wondering about all the wires behind the dashboard.. theres so many plugs that are just hangin around with no place to plug them. i plugged in as many as i could. anyway, pics will be up soon hopefully. thanks for the help so far.. lookin to see if i can get this problem nailed, so i can finish this project ive been holdin off for so many years..

Okay... so it is a floor harness for the interior, right?

It's not an engine harness?

And you're trying to put it into a 2000 DX hatchback?

I saw a floor/interior harness from a 1998 EX coupe go into a 1997 CX hatch (no rear wiper/washer) and there was NO modification needed. Nothing for the lights even. The lights were fine.

bro all to do is get all the window motors & harness & floor harness..everything plugs in. Funny thing is that I'm doing this also as we speak.."Si dash harness to my 2000 Civic"
all you have to do for the tail lights to work is bypass a clip near the brake pedal! I'm doing a Build on Jdmuniverse should be done after x-mas so check it out! or email tico_ek9@yahoo.com

so here are the pics.. the first one is the one i mentioned about earlier to kgibson16 in my first reply. the plug that looks like its very important that doesnt fit. its right above the steering column. the pics were not taken by me.. otherwise i would have taken pictures that show where its located in accordance with the other plugs and also probably would have taken shots of how many holes are on the connectors too. im sure some of you guys know these plugs like the back of your hand though so i posted them anyway. help me out guys! after i finish this harness i get to drop my b16a in! thanks

Alright man, sounds like you may be a little in over your head and frustrated due to time restraints. This is no easy task so I would do my best not to rush it if I were you. I don't think the SI harness will have much if any extra plugs that don't go to something. I can help you out with a few there:

Picture #2 I believe those hook up to your fuse box and have another male end that hook up to them. Is the dash out of this car? If so, the harness that has those male ends may be on the dash.

picture #3 This is your ignition plug. Should plug somewhere around your ignition (duh)/steering column area and then it runs to the fuse box I believe. This plug has been messed with, however. I see butt connectors and stuff hooked up to some of the wires...may want to check that out.

Picture #4 Not positive what this plug is even for, but I know for a fact it does not have anything plugged into it on a 2000 hatch. In other words, this is going to just be left there with no male end plugging into it.

Picture #5 Back of fuse box possibly? Sometimes its hard to match up all the plugs in or around the fuse box--sometimes you miss a spot. Double check it.

Picture #7 Those are all srs plugs. One should plug in under the steering wheel. There is a little plastic cover that pops off.

Picture #8 Look like they may be for the radio harness or climate control area. Hard to tell without knowing from where they are coming from.

Picture #10 Those are your ecu plugs. Your computer (ecu) will plug into those

Not to be a jerk man, but if you don't know what the ecu plugs are, you are probably in over your head. If you need the car running asap, I would get someone else to do it. If you don't mind taking your time and learning a little in the process, then get a Helms shop manual (www.helminc.com) for your car and probably also the electrical book for your car. That way whenever you have any doubts on where something goes, you can refer to the books and find out exactly what they plug into etc.

Good luck, I know how frustrating wiring can be.

Hey thanks for the help guys. yeah I'm trying to learn and everything was going fine until this wiring stuff. I wasn't going to swap the harness but I decided last minute that it would be easier to do than installing the power window / lock system on the stock door. I really wanted that feature. Yeah I admit, I've never done a Honda or a car even.. That's why I'm doing it. Because I want to know. I'm not the read a book type of guy. I'm the show me how to do it once and I'll never forget type of guy. Hands on. I have the Honda civic 1996-2000 service manual. And it has the electrical pretty detailed on there. However it confuses the hell out me when I look at it. My cousin who's also a mechanic, wanted to learn.. We thought it would be very simple. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I had already asked in a previous thread if it would be easy.. I was told that it would be however I guess they meant if you know what you're doing..? Originally I just left the old harness in and lined up the new one, ripping out the old as I went. Worked out pretty well and was pretty easy except for what I mentioned about the plugs that don't fit. Anyway, thanks for the help I appreciate it. So that other book you mentioned, that one is easier than the one I have? I may have to get it if so. Looking at a bunch of lines all over the page is not gonna help me.. LOL. Oh yeah to answer your question too, yes I took the dash out. About the ecu plugs, that's my fault I know what those are I shouldn't have posted them. I wasn't able to preview the pics on HT before I submitted. another question, how did u post the pics I tried to post WTF? Am I the only one who can't see them or...? So yeah, fixing the car cuz I want to learn. Sorry if it's trouble but I'm using HT as my reference guide. Hope y'all don't mind helpin a brotha out!
