Default What turbo for my B18 non-vtec Integra...

OK, I bet you think that this is the NORMAL post, some punk a$$ kid, looking for you to do the work for him.

NOT HERE SUCKER... I did all of the work, I have all of the numbers, now I need your help finding a decent ball bearing turbo that will fit my needs. I have a B18, and I'm looking to make 300 hp. Easy enough?? Using the super awesome Garrett website, I was able to come up with this.... MAPreq to get 300hp is 32.26 psi. Take the atmospheric pressure out of that, and I am left with 18.1psi of boost needed to reach my 300hp level. Using their calculations, I have an inlet pressure requirement of 13.16 psi, and an outlet pressure requirement of 34.26 psi. The ratio comes out to be (34.26/13.16) 2.6....

Now for the fun, finding all of the compressor maps that I can find and mapping my little dot on there (2.6 and 34.26.) I have found a GT3071R, 71MM, 56 trim, .50 A/R to be a good candidate. I have the space restraints of an Acura, so I need/want an external wastegate.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Jesse

If you just want 300whp go with a gt28rs

but you are going to want more- The 3071r is a great choice if you ever want to build your bottom end-

I have a built bottom end, and I will want more eventually. I'm building an Autocross car also, if that makes a difference.

Thanks

autocross GT28RS > GT3071r

no brainer, the next question is do you really need 300whp on a FWD auto-x car?
seems overpowered to me unless you plan on doing some roadrace courses and even then 250-275whp is nice

x2

The GT28RS is going to give you more than enough power to run auto-x. I think that in this situation, between these two the GT28 should be your choice. Although really consider what it takes to have a auto-x car, you don't need THAT much power.

Scroll down on this page and watch the three videos here. I think he's making somewhere between 300-350whp and tryin to run auto-x. Pretty interesting...

Tony, NO, I don't need that much HP, but it would be nice to have it when I need it. I'm gonna drive it on the street, but AutoCross will be my fun time.

I had a feeling you were going to say that! Depending on what you are going to do the most, is what is going to decide what turbo you choose. It's up to you now on what you pick. He was just tryin to give you an idea of what that kind of power will do on the auto-x course in a fwd car.

personally i like 150-170whp for auto-x and 250-275whp for the circuits. drag racing is a whole different animal 450whp MIN.

what about this idea...

get the 3071 and have 2 boost levels. tune the low level to something in the mid 200s and use it when you autox. if your only gonna need like 8-11psi to get that power goal, it will still have great spool i cant imagine needing more than 3500-3800 to get that especially if your motor is built/you have headwork done.

make the higher boost tune in the 300-350 or more range if you want, and it will be available to you upon the flick of a boost controller or however you manage the ecu or boost.
