Coming from a personal experience, unless it's a discontinued wheel, buy a NEW rim to replace the scraped up/bent/dinged wheel. (If discontinued Japanese made wheel, contact takakaira, inc. in Cali.)
The cost to repair is usually $80-$150. ($80 if the lip is scratch lightly... $150+ if the lip is bent/scratched and they have to apply new finish). This is a good amount of money to put towards a NEW rim to replace a bent/scratched wheel, IMO.
Lastly, check your local yellow pages and call around. Good shops never give estimates over the phone though... they have to check out the rims to give an accurate estimate. Good luck.

yeah i'd say just buy a new one if it's really bad.
is it not aligned anymore? I'd be careful shaving too much off the rim.

I've used fixarim.com one time in the past before and in all honesty, I would never use them again. That is not to say that their service isn't quality work, but their "like new" finish as promised by one of their reps failed to deliver. I had a set of bent wheels (Team Dynamics Motorsports) repaired. The bend was removed, but you could easily see where the repaired damage was. The wheels were white, and they only repainted the inner lip and not the whole wheel, nor did the paint match perfectly. They also left behind small circular crater marks around the repair. They did offer to re-do the wheels, but I really did not want to wait another month.
At the time, my wheels cost $250/rim new. Now they are $125/rim. At the time of repair, it cost me $100/rim to fix the wheels. If I had to do it again, I would have just bought new wheels. In your case (BMW), it may be more expensive to purchase OEM. Perhaps its time for a nice set of BBS wheels
