It wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. Get a Helm manual and go do work.

yea.. taking out is a cakewalk, but installing it back was a pain. first time i had 3 extra screws.. after about 10 times of taking it out, i only have 3 12mm bolts holding mine in. u will know what im talking about when u get it out.

Thats why its recommended that you drop the steering column. (only 2-4 bolts)

If you are thinking about modifying the entire dash, you might wanna look into your state laws for repercussion related to tampering with the VIN number. I know it doesn't fly in California...

I know that there's one on each side of the dash ( you have to pop the plastic side vents off) one in the center of the dash right under windsheild, i'm pretty sure there's one behind the glove box, you have to unbolt the center consil bracket from the floor, there's a ground that's going to be attached to the frame of the car that you'll have to disconnect as well, other than that i think that's it.

Not a difficult job by any means. Dropping the steering column make it a lot easier. Don't forget the cable for the vent on the drivers side.

Yep, you can get yourself in some deep crap if you modify the dash or take off the vin from where it should be.

I had a cracked dash and replaced it, took my vin off the old dash and put it on the new one with rivets as it was stock. Can I get in trouble for that?

Default dash

I never take out the steering colum to remove my dash, just take off the steering wheel and you will have no problems.

Check this DIY for painting, and definitely check the FAQ section, info is definitely there.

People are raving about this particular paint by SEM called landau black, as well as other SEM prepping products. Look it up.

You might get harassed; they can be dicks about it. They might suspect that your car is stolen and you just slapped on a different VIN tag...hopefully you don't have a RHD conversion and your firewall VIN is still intact for comparison purposes.

If it looks like your vin had been moved or the edges are bent a little they'll get suspicious.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement VIN for my dash? Bought the car without a VIN on the dash.
