Default swapping a 5speed to a automatic, yes sound wierd, read it please.

A friend of mine might not be able to drive a stick anymore do to a problem in his left foot, so I told him maybe we could swap our transmissions if his Dr. Appointment goes sour. I have a automatic accord, and he has a 5 speed h22a tranny, how hard would it be to exchange the 2?

How much would it run to do this, like extra parts and stuff?
and how long?

question is..does he have a h22? i would not trade a h series tranny for a f series. if he has a f block go for it, just reverse everything on the manual tranny swap directions...thats my best idea..good luck

Well your tranny won't be able to hold the H22. It is self destructive as it is, so I would not recommend changing. Changing cars would be a better solution, no.

What do you mean the tranny can't handle an h22? Of course it can...there's people who use the f22 tranny with their h22 swaps because of the longer gears...

Ill trade you an F22 auto for an H22 manual if you throw in a VAFC, a Barry Bonds rookie card and a stick of Juicy Fruit.

i wouldnt go f seiers tranny on h22a because u will fall short of vtec.. even though accords got that looong *** 5th gear.. i rather fall into vtec then out of it just for longer gears

What do you mean fall short of VTEC? It will still rev to and past redline with the F tranny.

Because the gears are longer.

HOLD UP..

he has a 88 or 89 prelude.. did he put in the h22.. cause they dont come with h22 out of the factory..

also you could do it. no problem..

The F22 tranny is longer yeah. but still will hold up.. why not swap full engine and tranny's.. i know he will be getting a weaker engine. but small price to pay for a freind helping him out and not having to buy a new car.. cause i understand his condition

yeah, he just found it today that he has a 50/50 chance of him not being able to use his foot, so im gonna suggest that we swap it all.

but if we were to just change our transmissions, will it be ok?

Im having trouble seeing a clear answer
thanks
