I have this problem with my car not starting all the time. I have had the car for two years and have put in a new coolant temp sensor, distributor, spark plug wires and plugs,fixed replaced the exhaust, and also a new radiator and air filter. Last time it didn't start my mechanic got it running by putting in new spark plugs and but when i got there it didn't start again. When we were trying to start it we could hear that the idle air control was humming. We cleaned of the plugs a few times after trying to get it started cause the plugs were soaked in gas. continued played with it for a little bit and got it started with some starting fluid. There were several codes reading such as random cylinder misfiring cylinder 1 and 3 misfire, 2 o2 sensor codes. Before I left he told me to try disconnecting my neg. battery cable before every time i shut my car off and reconnecting it right before i start my car. And so far it has started no problems for a couple of days. What could be causing all of the trouble? And before when it didn't start a couple of months ago it was the aftermarket distributor so i replaced that and it work great! Now it seems like the same problem is happening over and over again which i leading us to believe that it could be electrical!

 

main relay more than likely or thermostat ground101 at the t-stat housing.
