check your oil level,
check your oil pressure,
check the VTEC solenoid gasket/screen,

This assumes all wiring is good.

i checked the oil level thats normal, the wires are connected but teh jack *** before me messed with the harness so i am gonna go behind him and soder(spelling) the connections to assure a good connection. i will check oil pressure and get a gasket to see if that solves the problem. what i dont understand is why only in 3rd why not 2nd or 1st
thanks bone

I'm not sure if the jdm gsr has a press. sensor on the vtec solenoid or not...assuming it does make sure your chipped p28 was chipped to work with the vtec pressure sensor (code 22). Assuming you did some of the wiring yourself make sure the press. sensor is grounded correctly.

I had this problem myself with a B16B swap. Since all JDM engines do not have VTEC Pressure Switches you have to have the ECU programmed to not look for it. The P28 can be made to do this. I just took and put a USDM pressure switch and solenoid housing on my engine and it fixed this problem. You can use the USDM switch and either the JDM or USDM solenoid. Good luck...Also Code 22 is for the VTEC pressure switch...

You can try this one:

Cut the VTM Line (if there is one) and connect the VTM wire running to the ECU with the VTS wire. Add to this junction a 1k resistor to ground. (A screw near the ECU).

Here's a shematic:

I've done this some times in hybrid's and in my self made vtec controller. Works fine for me/us.

Swap woes. Some have no problems. Some have every weird issue under the sun. I hope it the gasket.

glad to hear it's working! make sure to pull your hazard fuse to reset the ecu and make sure no more codes pop up.

under the hood 7.5 fuse or disconect the battery for 5 minutes.
