Default EK hatch leaking water, need help.

Yo guys, I got a big problem, I need help ASAP. I knew the car was leaking water when it rained because my friend who sold it to me told me it was the rear right tail light had a loose or messed up seal. So it's raining liek ballz these past couple of days in southern california, when I checked the trunk and lifted up the cardboard to check to see how much water got into the replacement wheel hole, we talking like two gallons of water 0_0. The trunk is starting to show some minor surface rust.

I was wondering if other ppl have had this problem and whether their tail light was the issue. Is it possibly something else like any other weather stripping or anything? Common problem on in the 96-00 Ek hatch? I wanna fix this ASAP, i don't want my 2000 Ek to start getting bad rust. Help! Thanks.

Suck the water out with like a shop vac or something, And get a new tail light or repair the one that's in there.. That's all i can think of doing.

If its your tail light leaking, there's an actual seal that goes around it. You can order this piece separately from honda.

I have leak coming from my rear left quarter panel window, easy to trace if your leaking from those windows. Just look for a dried up trail, usually a faint white due to the minerals in the rain water.

I'll need to get that window cut out and glued back and hope that fixes the problem.

Good luck mang

99% of the time water in the wheel well is due to one of the tail lights leaking, as said, get the tail light gasket from honda, problem solved

Here is a good thread for information, despite the pictures being down.

i had this problem with my eg, but instead of the water comming into the wheel hole, the taillight was taking a hit for the team and absorbing the water, it would fill up. I just got a new taillight and it stopped it.
