Default Civic Dilema. Need Opinons

I have a 98 civic hatch dx. It has 191k miles. I replaced head gaskets 25k miles ago. its my only car for now. here's my dilema...a little long.

should I go with a reman tranny from an tranny shop I found on the net? ones in Az the other one in Los angeles. both charge $695 for a reman tranny (s40).

or should I go with a tranny from craigslist that's between $150-200?

I kinda don't want to invest $1k in this car but my friend said he would cause its still in pretty good condition. so that got me thinking. I'm saving to buy another car that's why I don't wanna invest too much on this one. but I would still try to drive both. I'm hoping it can make it to 300k miles.

any opinions? thanks guys

a tranny of craigslist would work,
but you just have to be carful cause you might end up getting one thats bad.
a reman would be great buy if you can get one off craigs list for a 1/3 of the price why not lol?

I bought a jdm tranny for my hatch. D15B 5spd for $150 CDN from a local engine importer. That may be your best bet, since they have fairly low mileage and warranty.

i am actully not sure if you can. you just have to trust that their giving you a good tranns
going to an importer is what i think you should do. must of the time they test what they sell and if it is bad you can go back to them and get a diff one or a new one.
