Default ***d2 rs full coilover questions***

So i currently have tein lowering springs on my 01 em2, but its just not low enough, and handling wasnt improved too much. It looks better than stock though but for the last few months there has been a pretty loud "clunking" noise coming the front, passenger side. I have been told by a pretty trustworthy mechanic that the strut is blown, which i already knew, and thats what is making the noise. He also said that he would not replace the strut with after market springs on it. Either put the stock springs back on, or order coilovers, and there is no way i could ever go back to stock heigth after have been lower! So i used this as a good excuse to buy a decent set of coilovers. I ordered the D2 RS full coilovers.
So my questions are;
-Would a blown strut make a loud clunking noise, or is the mechanic just blaming the noise on a easy to spot problem?
-Does anyone have any opinions on these coilovers? Any at all would be helpfull. Thanks

I'm on d2's in a coupe, and i gotta say if you drive aggressively they are a good application. If you are looking for a soft plusher ride, they aren't the set for you. I dont track so i wouldn't know how they perform there. The 36 way adjustability is easy with the clicking measurements. Goes pretty low also and ride height does not affect the feel.

well, if the strut feels like its bottoming out, and there is a lot of give to it. Then, its most likely blown. I am interested though on some of the comments towards the D2s. I am thinking about ordering some myself.

d2s = eh

depends on your application. theres better coils out there for the $$$. progress and AMR Engineering both under $1000 and both very legit

why are you asking opinions on a product you already ordered?? there could be several reasons why the suspension was making noises. you didnt feel any handling improvements because the springs were under dampened on stock struts. and lowering the car past an inch and a half kills the roll centers and ruins shock travel. any coilover set is fine for a dd. numerous ppl run aftermarket springs and shocks without any problems. it just depends on if they are installed correctly

Well if the feedback about them make him decide otherwise on the coilovers, he could just not install them and sell them at, or very close, to what he bought them for and buy something else.

I've researched a good amount and have already made up my mind on the d2's, and am stoked on them. I'm not asking for opinions to help me decide if i should get them or not. I'm asking for opinions on how people like them or dislike them, intall tips, basically just any useful input people might have.
Why are you asking me, why i'm asking for opinions? The first thought i got after i read your first question, was that your trying to make me feel or look stupid. Who knows, but this forum is for constructive criticizism. For people to ask a question, and hopefully get helped out by someone who has knowlege on the subject. Thanks Dirtymicrophone for the backup.
